Will your kids like your music?!

Me and my boyfriend were watching some tv programme last night called 'blame the parents' - about parents who have out of control kids, trying to work out how to control them.

It got me thinking about how my kids would be, and how i would handle brats like that...I hope to god i didnt have children like those ones - for one, they were all Chavs..

To the point of the topic - Kids rebel against everythhing and anything, and you often speak to these little goth kids, or indie kids, and they will say that their parents listen to A B or C, and hate their music. You also get all these indie kids who have taken great influence from their parents music collection...

I am yet to meet a chav who has parents in to 'decent' music and is trying to rebel against that...Maybe i just havent met enough chavs.

DO you think your kids will like your type of usic? or do you think they would rebel? what would you do if your child turns in to a chav!!??

Vovat, that's true, it's completly sad when your kid laughs at your music...that happens with me all the time.
Maybe one day my son will understand my music, I won't loose the hope.

If it's any consolation, um, my daughter requests your mixes.

Constantly.

That's very sweet of you.
Sometimes it makes me very sad when my son does that, but I think it's because of his age, maybe in a few years we won't have that problem any more.

Bloody hell cool it petal, I was only winding you up (obviously worked). You are obviously spending to much time with him and that's why you haven't sent us all your mix CD yet. Come on girl, chop chop.

Im sorry, its just we had so many top[ics on here regarding Chavs, I thought all the people over the ocean would understand? But theres a dictionary ref there, so i will assume you know now.

Ive been known to say if my child does end up a chav..i am likely to put it up for adoption. I would imagine, or at least hope there is now way it could turn to the wrong side in musical tastes...because it would be surrounded by music all day, everyday, it woyuld be in its genes....then, i guess its got more of a case to rebel. hmm

My 3 yr old daughter has made a good start and seems to like a lot of my music (mostly the upbeat stuff), but I fully expect her to rebel against it as she gets older/hits her teenage years. Isn't that what kids do? I liked some of the stuff my parents liked (Stones, Beatles, Fleetwood Mac) and when I was teenager they took the wind out of my sails by liking some of my stuff. Strangely, we're probably further apart musically now.

And if my daughter or son go near Burberry/become a chav, I'll er...er...listen to my wife's counsel. That usually stops me being rash.

I'm worried by the number of references to Vauxhall Novas in darwin's link. I have a battered, twenty-year-old Nova, with matching dents down each side. It has no accessories such as spoilers or extra exhausts however, and I refuse to own sportswear. Therefore, logic dictates I am not a chav.

What's your excuse?

I didn't know you had a boyfriend?

Back on topic, yes they will like my music or I will drown them.

What the fuck is a "chav?!" Damn Gypsy, you say (type) the word like one million (ok, 4) times like we know what the hell it is or just hoping that we will figure it out by context. Is that some kind of English talk...for lower class?

I think it can go either way. Kids will sometimes grow to love their parents' music, and other times they'll rebel and hate it. I have a feeling that any kids I had would hate the things I liked, which one of many reasons why I would rather not reproduce.

Maybe you are a chav, and you're in denial.
