Topic stealin' agin' (you can call me "Chicken Hawk"):

Rock the house -- the empty, soon-to-be-demolished house, that is. For the first installment of his new DVD series, "Burn to Shine" ($12 Post Paid at www.trixiedvd.com), Fugazi drummer Brendan Canty asked director Christoph Green to film such area alt-rockers as Ted Leo, Bob Mould and bandmate Ian MacKaye's new outfit, the Evens (above), performing in an abandoned Bethesda living room on Jan. 14, 2004 -- hours before the house was torched by the Montgomery County fire department. "D.C. has such a temporal quality," Canty says. "I've seen so many friends' bands disappear. . . . The idea of capturing these people making music in a place that would soon cease to exist made perfect metaphorical sense." Canty plans to spotlight musicians in similarly-fated houses in New York, San Diego and Portland, Ore. Next up this summer: a Chicago-based disc featuring such Windy City acts as Wilco, Shellac, Tortoise and Freakwater.

Weird War - AK-47
The Evens - Mount Pleasant Isn't
Bob Mould - Hoover Dam

Freakwater

Red Eyed Legends
Tight Phantomz
Lonesome Organist

Probably no point in me looking further into it until we are ggging 'cos otherwise they will already be gone by the time we are.

I promise to give you a mention at our first one though.

Any buildings in mind yet Homer? I plan on buying both dvds - I love it when independent music and concept bridge over into the general public.

Caroly, if you ever do get some pics, that would be cool. How old is the town where the farmhouse is located? Oral histories like this are intriguing. We almost bought a farmhouse in Mount Vernon (outside of Columbus) that the whole town thought was haunted, but the actual history of the place was creepy enough. The girl that's said to haunt the place is buried on the property...but I digress heheh

What a cool idea, I'm gonna steal this one.

Well its strange and eerie I'll tell you that.
At first I thought hubby's brothers were messing with me, telling me stories of how they sometimes saw a lady in the upstairs window and such.
Anyway, its the original farmhouse, 2 stories, dirt basement and all.
Mike's relatives told us that the original owner used to beat his wife on quite a regular basis there. One time his great uncle said he remembers seeing the wife of the farmer tied to the tree in the front yard sometimes. Anyway, he told us this story quite a few years back and then just a couple years ago that exact tree was struck by lightning, and there are a lot of trees there and some much taller than that one...
Yeah I'll take a pic or 2 next time I'm out there.

Is it really Caroly? Have you been in it? Are there any pictures? I'd hate to see a good haunted house get wasted, though the show would be cool.

Any others?

Me:
Our crazy neighbors built a 3-storey gymnasium with a 3-storey smiley face on it. Facing our house. If only you could burn cinderblocks.

I think this looks like an awesome project, and even though I don't care for Wilco very much at all, I do like a lot of these bands.

Hmmmm, we have an old old farmhouse that we want to donate to the local fire department for a controlled burn. Plus I swear its haunted! I wonder if anyone would come to Edmonton Alberta hehehe.
