Not talking about La Tour d'Argent, but nice little restaurants that are not too expensive where you can go with friends, dates or prostitutes.

Anahuacalli, rue des Bernardins (Vème). Easily the best Mexican restaurant in town, better than the other one I mentioned. The cochinita pibil was excellent and the mixiote too. Main courses start at 15€, margaritas are expensive (9€) but great. The waitresses are very kind. I strongly recommend you to make a reservation cause the place is small and always full on saturdays.

Shift+Option+2 on mine. Merci, Surfer!

Sorry to go off topic but European currency
is of importance, especially as George Bush
further bankrupts the U.S.

L'Estaminet, rue Oberkampf.
Good huge salads with lots of products from the south-west of France : foie gras, magret, gésiers etc. Their wine is not the best in the world, but it's ok. It's more a place where you bring your old buddy or your regular girlfriend, it is not very good for dates.

I'm on a Mac, Holiday Son.

Denis, why shouldn't this thread be in English? Pourquoi pas?

May I ask why this thread is written in English?
Anyway. I don't know any restaurant in Paris. The only one I know is the Mexican place called "A La Mexicaine" near Beaubourg. Pretty good, except the barbacoa which doesn't taste like the real one.

Last but not least: Le Tambour Rue Montmartre (2nd District)
Andouillette, confit de canard, souris d'agneau, escargot, pied de porc... huge profiterolles. The place is strange, decorated as a street, with urban elements. starter+main course+dessert+ wine= 25€

Le Tonneau des Halles, Rue Montorgueil (Near St Eustache)
Another fine Bistrot, good wines (try the Pic St Loup). There's plates with a mix of charcuterie and cheese you can share as a starter, my favourite course there is the Entrecôte à l'os à moelle. starter+main course+dessert+ wine= 30€

I liked this Middle Eastern place on the right side of Marceau going down toward Palais de Tokyo. I forget the name. Good
basic Lebanese food. My cousin eats there just about every day.

Arthur, Rue du faubourg St Martin (not far from prostitutes). 22€ starter+ Main course or Main course+ Dessert. Nice place, old fashionned Bistrot, with a lot of pictures of actors on the wall (it's near the Splendid). I recommend trying the "fondant de poireaux/oeuf Mollet/lard grillé" puis the "filet de boeuf en portefeuille façon Rossini" or "Croustillant de veau (veau+gourgette+fromage dans une aumonière croustillante) accompagnée de son tiuan de légume". Good Wines between 20 and 30€.
