So, I'm off to a club night on Friday (which may or may not warrant resurrectin 'You make me feel like dancing'), which I don't normally bother with, grumpy old fogey that I am.
Anyhoo.

They have a rock karaoke there, apparently. I know what I'd pick: 'There Is A Light That Never Goes Out' by the Smiths.
What about yourselves?

Altogether now: "If a double decker bus..."

She's a big karaoke favourite with the girls isn't she? They never pick her good ones though.

Hmm, I still think you were infering that you like The Darkness, but I'll let you off for now if you insist. I do believe in love yes.

You can't always be listening to obscure alt rock music, you know.

The world needs Cyndi Lauper.

I really can't believe that someone here likes the Darkness. I honestly thought that the people here had taste. And I liked your mixes so much too.
whoreatthedoor Posted - 03/03/2005 : 10:07:44
Oh! I don't care, K!

You should try it, Mike! It's absolutely funny, even if you don't like "The Darkness", which is not my case.

Toby, I am gonna smash your mix CD's up before I even listen to them after that comment.
tobafett Posted - 03/03/2005 : 09:50:10
I believe in a thing called Love. I'm surprised you don't Homer...
Homers_pet_monkey Posted - 03/03/2005 : 09:44:51
You like The Darkness Kiki? You will NEVER live this down. You should be ashamed. No REALLY you should be ashamed. Hang that head.
kathryn Posted - 03/03/2005 : 09:43:06
Go for it, Whore! Don't listen to Homers.

WHAT!? We'll disown you if you do Xavier.
whoreatthedoor Posted - 03/03/2005 : 09:30:09
I have another karaoke night this saturday. I think I'll go for a second round of 'The Darkness'.

got a cold, cheese? sound like cash? far out!

last autumn, my cold made me sound EXACTLY like Barry White for about 2 1/2 weeks...it was cool answering the phone and ordering takeout--

[REALLY deep register] i'd like a cheeseburger and a strawberry milkshake, baby, YEAH!

I've never done karaoke. I'd kind of like to someday, but I know how horrible my singing is.

It would be cool to do a TMBG song, but I would never choose "Istanbul."

Bumble needs to be in this thread, he used to text me while at rock karaoke. I believe he once sung white wedding, which would have been a sight to see!

Yeah Shatner is better than Pulp.

Karaoke is meant to be sung badly. Then it's funny. If they are good then it just seems like they are showing off and people lose interest.
Cheeseman1000 Posted - 03/02/2005 : 03:00:54
Mel, you should check out the William Shatner cover, that is just awesome.

I could probably get away with a Cash song as well, specially if this cold holds up...

Dunno about now, they were quite big during the whole Britpop era...I love them cos they remind me of my childhood, and while everyone else was arguing ovcer oasis and blur, i wasnt huge on either, but really likeed pulp...

Common people is one of my favourite songs...but prob due to association than anything else. check it out anyways.

I've done a few things at karaoke.. let's see:

Chantilly Lace - Big Bopper
Money for Nothing - Dire Straits
Whip It - Devo
Istanbul - TMBG
Soul Man - Blues Bro's (with a buddy of mine)
That'll Be The Day - Buddy Holly

Wish there was a karaoke version of Bullet.. I'd rock that.

Daisy Girl Posted - 03/01/2005 : 19:50:56
LOL. There's this band that does Karaoke.... so you can sing along with a band. It's pretty cool... haven't done it though.

I did Borderline by Madonna once and another stupid song I can't remember. My friend choose it cuz it was sappy and there was a cheezy 70's guy walking a sheepdog in it. Oh yea it is coming back... it was James Taylor's You've got a friend... a personal low point in my life.

I think if i were to do it again, id do Beautiful by Carole King...not very rock and roll tho. I guess id do Teenage Kicks - The Undertones or maybe Common People - Pulp.

interesting mix.

Ive only ever done karaoke once. I was about 13/14, and at Gay pride in brighton, and was more than a little drunk, Some one signed me and this guy richie up to do '99 red balloons'. We changed it to 99 lesbians...which was quite funny, but being so drunk i kept saying 'red lesbiens', whoch didnt go down quite as well.

Whats made it worse was the fact that Richie isa professional singer, and i can barely sing a note, esp when drunk!

Fair enough. Just plain lying then?

A friend used to sing The End by The Doors in his local boozer. It was a proper 'local' pub, full of old men and chavs. Not sure how the hell he made it out alive.

I swear on my stack of Catholics CDs, I was not being sarcastic!
