Posted - 02/25/2005 : 23:47:08 Please, share your bargin bin finds here. I'm sure we've all had these experinces, getting something valuable for really cheap. Today in-particular, I found a copy of "True Romance" for 3.99 at Super Store (I don't know if you Americans have Super Store, but it's Canada's answer to Wal-Mart) in a clearnce bin in the electronics deparment.
I've been looking to see this movie for a long time (since it's tied in with the story-line of "Reservoir Dogs" and "Pulp Fiction") so it was kinda' awesome finding it there.
I was just about to order it from Amazon.ca too, I was gonna get me the double disc director's cut commentery packed SPECIAL FEATURES DVD. But I decided that this wouuld be just as good, since all I really wanted to do was see the movie.
I gotta say, I've only watched half of it up to this point (I had to stop half way through to get something to eat) but it kinda' started out really cheesy and all ROMANTIC-LIKE but it changed directos when Elvis (being played secretly by Brad Pitt) showed up and started telling the hero to kill people.
Atleast I think Elvis was Brad Pitt, he appears later in the movie though but I figured that he kind of sounded like Brad Pitt and looked like em' too.
Also Brad Pitt has a thing for re-claiming the same type of rules (Fight Club - Twelve Monkeys) so I figured that this would kind of tie in with his entier Fight Club role, it's hard to explain BUT THINGS LIKE THIS MAKE PERFECTLY LOGCIAL SENSE IN MY MIND.
Anyways, I guess if anyone else has any great finds they made I would like them to share. Even if it was on eBay or something. Because after all - we're just consumers. |

Posted - 02/27/2005 : 12:54:59 The only problem with bargain bins or sale sections is that you can end up littering your cd collection with some utter shite that you never listen to in any case.
I speak from extensive experience here.
I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me.

Posted - 02/27/2005 : 06:34:58 I love bargain bins. I've found probably one quarter of my CD collection in the $2.99 section at the used CD store.

Posted - 02/26/2005 : 18:52:44 I found a CD copy of "Lick MY Decals Off, Baby" by Captain Beefheart for $10.
Will I ever reach 1000?

Posted - 02/26/2005 : 14:24:25 Yeah Amazon is great. I consider the DVD rental club I am a member of with them to be a real bargain.

Posted - 02/26/2005 : 09:06:04 I've been deliberately staying away from that Brian. Got to let my finances recover somewhat especially since I suspect the ease of buying while at work will lead to the pillage of my bank account.
I've heard it's an excellent way to find some pretty rare stuff though.

Posted - 02/26/2005 : 08:42:18 I discovered Queens of the Stone Age thanks to a HMV sale. And I did go kind of crazy in the Amoeba used section - picked up some of my new favourite cds for an average of $5 a piece and most of those were for discs I'd struggle to pick up for less than £14 each.

Posted - 02/26/2005 : 04:17:46 I got every episode of Dungeons & Dragons on disc for around £6. That was from Ebay.
I found Pacer by The Amps in a record store in Nottingham for £3.99 a few month back. It's hard to find over here, so to find it for that price was amazing.
Most of my bargains are probably CD's or DVD's, althogh my flatscreen, widescreen TV was £180 with the stand. I consider that to be a real bargain.
I'll try and think of more.
