OK, I have an idea, let's see if it works. I guess it's the bastard cousin of the Compilation CD Swap, only this won't cost you money.
The idea is that you have to find a new band/musical artist for a fellow forum member. The band doesn't have to be new as such, just new to the forum member. You can discover them anyway you like but it would be a good idea to make sure they have songs readily available on the internet, unless you want to provide them with a CD.
I will do a random draw, with all the names of the forum members who want to participate. Whoever you are paired up with, you will find a band/artist for them, and they for you.
Now this will require a degree of honesty, if they contact you with a suggestion then you have to be honest with them. If you hate it, tell them, they will have to try again.
I propose a closing date for entries of 31st March. That gives everyone a good chance to see this. The draw will then be made and I will post the results here. Everyone will then have 1 month to find their partner a musical match. The results of this will also be posted here.
I suggest contact between the pairs should be kept to email where possible, except for anything you feel you need to share with the rest of the forum. You may want to ask your match for certain criterea that you may want to meet, such as what type of music they generally like or are looking for new music in.
I would suggest that a match is officially made when your partner agrees to it being their match (ie, they really like it. I don't think thinking it's OK is good enough).

This is going slowly due to people not contacting their partners. Sarah has sent one email and hasn't replied to my latest for a couple of weeks. I don't mind though, so long as we get there in the end.

when i signed up for this i was going to ram husker du/sugar/bob mould down whoever's throat i got and it probably would have been someone who was already a fan so i'm kind of glad i ended up stepping out. i'll be watching from the sidelines...

I think that me and Speedy had done it very easly, I speak for myself, I have already a new favourite band, and how I love them.
He has got an impecable musical taste, so it wasn't difficult.
