Posted - 02/14/2005 : 07:39:19 I haven't seen any good live Blues in a long time. I think the last time was in Chicago in kind of a basement bar though. Used to listen to "Blues Before Sunrise" www.bluesbeforesunrise.com on the radio before we moved from Chicago. There's a simulcast (5 hours long, middle of the night for the US) here: www.bluesbeforesunrise.com/bbsreal.html
I guess I like pre-war blues the best. |

Posted - 02/14/2005 : 07:12:05 oh, and Keb Mo.
Keb Mo is NOT blues. Sorry.
Best act I've seen live was a fellow named Michael Burks from Arkansas. Big black dude that just about burnt the neck off his Flying V. Awesome. |

Posted - 02/14/2005 : 07:08:02 I dig playing it more than listening usually.
Search songramp for "DB3"...if that doesn't work, search "74transporter".
and if THAT doesn't work, search www.indie911.com for DB3...
We are DB3. Blues and psychedelic rock. I grew up listening to 'filtered blues' as I call it...Zeppelin, Allmans, Hendrix, Cream, SRV, etc and never realized it.
Any genre has the scum at the top and I consider this to be the old white men who wear blues like a badge...consider it part of their 'statement'...like the Harley and the suv and the guns and all the other bullshit that they use to tell the rest of the world that they should, if at all possible, be considered to be the alpha male in any given situation. Those guys. I don't like those guys.
Fuck The Truth. All The Truth has done is make me wonder why. |

Posted - 02/13/2005 : 08:15:30 Seen a couple of local blues bands back in SA but not anyone of notable mention which is ridiculous considering I had a brief relationship with a man based on his impressive collection of blues records. Buddy Guy did a gig in London last year that I'm really pissed off that I missed.
I'd be safe and warm if I was in L.A California Dreamin' on such a winter's day

Posted - 02/12/2005 : 20:04:34 Go Blues! The first concert I ever attended was Johnny Winter, with Brownsville Station opening. Big Allman Bros fan, along with Roy Buchanon, Mick Taylor, Alvin Lee, earlier Clapton, Jorma Kaukonen, Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray, Quicksilver Messenger Service, .... and, oh yeah, all those old black guys like Howlin' Wolf. |
