Any of you State-siders going to this years Coachella Festival? Just got this from NME.com. Looks like an excellent line-up.

CALIFORNIA DREAMING

COLDPLAY, NINE INCH NAILS, NEW ORDER and WEEZER are set to top the bill at the sixth Californian COACHELLA FESTIVAL.

A host of British acts including Razorlight , Kasabian, The Futureheads, Bloc Party, Keane, Snow Patrol, The Chemical Brothers, Doves, Prodigy, Katie Melua, Roots Manuva, British Sea Power and Stereophonics will also play over the two-day event, which runs over the weekend of April 30-May 1. The festival will again take place at the Empire Polo Field in Indio, a desert hot spot two hours outside of LA.

After festival bosses brought a reunited Stoogesto the line up in 2003 and helped get the Pixies back together for their 2004 show, Coachella 2005 will follow the tradition of bringing back reformed groups by hosting Bauhaus and Cocteau Twins in this year’s line-up.

"With the Cocteau Twins - I just kept persevering," festival promoter Paul Tollett told NME.COM. "The same guy who helped me with Pixies, helped me with that one. We just want to have all different types [of artists]. We’re not looking for bands that haven’t been around necessarily, just different types of music that add up."

Almost sounds like a Roman sex offender. Gropius Maximus.

Is Walter Gropius going to be involved?

"Reunion? Shit union!"

But I thought they already did? Coulda sworn we saw them in Chicago in 1998.

What gives? Ah, the endless reuniting of the

reunited...and it feels so good!

Damn song.
Damn me.

ah well my leeds experiences usually involve random coloured spirits mixed with apple squash and this year are bound to involve drunk welshmen throwing bottles of piss at people they don't like but hey!

it's all good!

Ah and that is why Leeds is my favourite festival.

For once I'm able to enjoy a festival and have all the home comforts too. Send the husband off hiking or somewhere healthy. House to me and my fellow partner in crime. Guest passes. Far too much fun. No portaloo hell and the all important option of leaving if it's shit.

I knew it came down to your bad experience Mel. Some of your points are true, but there is no getting away from the fact that if you are a rock/indie music fan, then the Carling festivals are the best. And genuine music fans recognise this and do attend.

Thats such a generalisation, I like the music I like the good times I like the flaming portaloos

Ive never been to glasto, so i couldnt comment.

At reading, there were people who actually didnt move from the camp site. just sat there doing drugs.

I hate the feel of reading, it just full of little brats whove told their mates there is a big field you can get off your head in.

i fucking hate it. Especially as i almost died last time i went to reading

All tomorrows parties - a festival for people who go for the music.

starmekitten Posted - 02/02/2005 : 08:33:43
when I last went to leads it was ace, they always make it look worse in the press, and a few flaming portaloos is pretty funny

Leeds is where they burn things Kitty. That is not the way forward unless you are a pyromaniac (or have back stage passes).

Mel, EVERY festival has people getting "fucked out of their heads", Glastonbury being the most famous of them.

Just for the record, floop is right about Wilco. They're completely overrated. I really don't understand it.

kathryn Posted - 02/01/2005 : 13:47:43
I was forced to attend a Grateful Dead concert at Sam Boyd Bowl
in the desert outside Las Vegas once, and they had all these showers
were people could jump in and cool off. Which was good. Except
for the sight of half-clothed Deadheads.

Coachella is in the middle of the desert. it gets hot in deserts in the middle of the desert, in the summer.

it's no accident that they don't allow you do bring in water (to an all day festival in the middle of the scorching desert)
