Posted - 01/23/2005 : 23:51:05 I know this is... the third topic I've starded. It's not like I'm trying to blanket the board or anything...
But I was wondering if any of you have experince with CB radios, I have 6 or 7 I got from a friend (including microphones) but I've been looking for antennas. I tried a few places - like radio shack and stuff, but they only have a few models and none of them are ever in, and even then their really expensive.
My friend tells me (who I got these radios from) that you can buy em' for like 15$ or something. I think their is a local CB radio club here in town - but I haven't got around to checking it out.
I still need to round together a power supply (I'm thinking a car battery which I guess would work) and some sort of sound out-put device. I'm thinking I could probably fix something up that wouldn't be that complicated.
Right now I'm worried about finding a antenna, my brother bought some for his car on eBay, he hasn't got around to installing them. I looked on eBay for a base antennas, since I'm gonna have this CB set up in my room.
I'm probably gonna end up just buying one from eBay eventually, I just wanted to look around here in town to see if I can find one for cheap, and someone who knwos what their talking about.
I particularly like the CB radio reading literature, I remember finding some site that held like the entier "slang dictonary" kind of stuff, that explained what all the jibba-jabba meant which was pretty cool.
I guess ultimately my goal is to aspire to be the pure denizen of the citizen's band. |

I still believe in the excellent joy of the Frank |

Posted - 01/24/2005 : 15:16:43 Yes... yes... that is sadly true. I didn't really know CBs were popular in the 70's, I knew D&D over time has had spiked popularity. |
