Anyone got any tips? Where do I start (literally, I have no idea).

I am thinking about having my own music website, probably with the main aim of reporting on new and upcoming bands. Long term I hope it would be able to host MP3's of unsigned bands as well as record/concert reviews of newly signed bands (perhaps also a section dedicated to long forgotten, lesser known, influential bands).

So obviouly I need somewhere to host the site etc. Any help that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated (there may be something in it for you long term if you are in a band).

I like Dreamhost.

People knock 'em sometimes, but I've never had any issues.

About $10 USD/month for a basic plan.

I think Freewebs is pretty good - I've used Freeola and Freewebs and the latter kicks the formers ass.

You can pick between free webspace (with a bunch of conditions) or you can pay a small amount and go wild...http://members.freewebs.com/

I have used tripod.com, but it sounds like for these other posts the other options sound better!

Now then, HPM, if you need help getting started, don't be afraid to fire me an email.

Thanks Dean, I will do just that. And thanks to everyone for your suggestions, I am weighing up the options. I do want it to be as cheap as possible for now though.

If you have means to burn a copy, I can get you money for DVDs and postage.

Actually, that might be a possibility. I'll have to save up for the blank DVD's though.

Ach, you should've guessed it was Spaced. There are tears over that film, I'll tell you that.
actually, it has some details on imdb.com, check out the chaos theory explaining how the entire fate of the universe boiled down to the gunner on the starship at the beginning of Ep4.

No idea, though I'd venture a Kevin Smith flick which would mean either Jay & Silent Bob or Jersey Girl. That's a funny line.

Remember, Jar Jar Binks makes the Ewoks look like Shaft.

Points if you can tell me where that's from.

Okay, that had me laughing. Which one is not supposed to do when in their office. Because happiness is bad for profits. Why do you hate profits, Cheeseman?

Start Logic is good. I use them. Lots of extras: blog, forum, mail, tons of stats, the option for easy gui based web-building, and especially lots of space and bandwidth. Oh, and can't forget cheap.
