So, what is the general consensus on chest hair? My ex liked it, but now it seems everyone is all smooth. And if you go that route, do you shave, laser, wax, what?? I think we've all heard/seen the Seinfeld horror stories...

Sadly, I think you have hit the nail on the head right there.

Well, I think it all depends on the person and how much you care for them. For my husband, I wouldn't want him to change himself in any way for me....he's just perfect the way he is.

But I definately agree with dayanara, that if you are in the hooking up period, that back hair, is best waxed.
dayanara Posted - 01/14/2005 : 18:48:59
Shaving doesn't make it come back thicker, but it looks much thicker because the new hair is blunt on the ends. If you really want to get rid of it go laser, it's not cheap but worth it if you want permanent baldness. I think the hariness factor for men is the similar to women being paranoid about their weight. One of my closest friends is hairy (you can see his chest hair even with a t-shirt on) and very paranoid about it. I've heard girls say some unquestionably cruel things to him without thinking twice because they think they're being cute or funny. Or maybe they think it's ok to be critical because they're women and he's a man, I don't know. Of course these same girls would have needed years of therapy and prozac if he'd walked up to them and said, "hey, your thighs rub together! you might want to take care of that."

It's actually a myth that shaving makes your hair come back thicker - not really true, y'know.

The Seinfeld episode was the best when Jerry came out of the bathroom with a giant rug of chest hair after shaving.

I've trimmed the hair on my arms a little because of peer pressure from one of my friends who laughed at me during the summer. I feel emboldened after the positive hairyness feedback by a few of the women on our forum. Still, you must admit the fun factor of seeing someone who has a particularly hairy back when you are at the pool. It's just so unique that I can't help but stare.(sorry cheeseman, no offense)

I mean, I ain't got no dam back hair or nothin sasquatchean like that, but I sure as hell don't shave my arms or chest.

Jesus.

Unless you're a professional swimmer, I don't see any reason for that...I mean, unless there are packs of unreasonably hot women holding you down insisting that you shave so they can...well..you see.

Come on pilgrim, don’t you know back hair is awesome ?

I always wanted to have chest hair and look like Sean Connery.

I have a friend whose boyfriend shaves his chest and arms and it is truly revolting, in my opinion. I never got into that whole "primpy man" movement. Guys are supposed to be a little hairy and rough around the edges, that's what makes them sexy. I'll take a guy with a stained t-shirt and chest hair over any of those goofy triple-processed boxer brief models any day.

I am now officially in love with dayanara.

You know what, I always thought that. I'm gonna kill everyone that ever told me that.

Well, tell them off.

Well you would be silly to shave it 'cos it would come back thicker.

Funny, 'cos you don't seem that hairy. You can usually tell even when someone is fully clothed.

That's me, that is.

Seriously, I'm just generally hairy all over. Back, chest, you name it. I don't know if I'm proud or disgusted by myself. I can't see myself shaving it ever though, I'm no metrosexual.

amen, dayanara!!!

Although I shave my legs and underarms, (but haven't always) I think that excessive body hair removal is repulsive and relfects an overly vain and self-conscious society. It's gotten to the point that people think that hairlessness is normal, and having hair is disgusting. I think hair is beautiful. I think peoples' bodies are beautiful when they leave them alone. chest hair, back hair, who cares?

If I shaved my chest, the contrast between it and the rest of my somewhat hairy body would probably result in laughs and jeers of all kinds.

I wonder if there is a subtle question that one can ask early on in the date to determine if the girl is a fan of chest hair.

The opinions from women always seem to be pretty evenly divided on this, but few like it to be very hairy.

I refuse to shave the hair from my body. I've had others shave me, but I hate it and it itches like a fuck when it comes back. I do have some friends that HATE body hair. I have one friend that once ripped all his pubes out, sounds painful, no?
