Mclusky split The date: 10th January 2005 Artists: Mclusky Heroes of rock, Mclusky, have disbanded. In a statement posted on their website, singer Andy Falkous said:
“The three piece rock band known as mclusky have disbanded, as of friday january 7th, 2005.
The reason for this parting is private, though probably not as entertaining as you'd imagine.
Personally, I would like to thank all the people, places and times that occured on or near us.
I`m grateful for the love and to to a lesser degree, the hate. There'll be more music soon, from all of us. “
And that, sadly, is pretty much it. .
sorry if this has already been posted and ive missed it, im recovering from a very good night last night!
but this has saddened me.

Posted - 07/04/2005 : 13:57:45 Thanks Nic. Sounds promising. Some of my mates like Jarcrew, though I never really cared for them. However, perhaps with Falkous writing input, they will produce better.

Not to be outdone by fellow Welshmen Super Furry Animals' latest vault clearing reissues, recently disbanded trio Mclusky (who threw in the towel this past January after nearly 10 years of service) are compiling a 3xCD career-spanning epitaph for release later this year.
As the band's (now former) manager explained to Pitchfork, the upcoming release will be "a three-disc set consisting of all the band's A-side singles on Disc A, all of the B-sides on Disc B, and then outtakes, rarities, live stuff, and radio session tracks on Disc C." The the full tracklist and a firm street date have yet to be issued, many of the cuts making the final pressing will include UK-only B-sides, as well as previously unreleased material, making the set a convenient one-stop package for U.S. fans.
Mclusky's manager also informs us that singer/songwriter Andrew Falkous and drummer Jack Eggleston are assembling a new outfit with former members of UK act Jarcrew. And while demos have already been cut for a possible album, he's "not sure when anything will happen on this one." Don't worry, we'll keep you posted on any half-assed supergroup shenanigans the lads get themselves into.
And finally, founding member John Chapple, whose reported squabbling with Falkous is cited as a major reason for the band's split, will also be keeping himself busy with a musical rebound-- releasing two "mini-albums" with his band Shooting at Unarmed Men. Described by their manager as "a lot scratchier and more lo-fi than Mclusky and a lot less balls-to-the-wall, but still rocking and surprisingly tuneful," the group's album is rumored to be released later this year under the title Soon There Will Be.... |

Posted - 01/31/2005 : 03:02:18 Sounds like that ties in with what Malax said above. I assume Mclusky ARE finished, as in they won't be playing Mclusky songs anymore (perhaps the odd one or two), and they will have a different name. I assume they will still be producing good music though.

Posted - 01/30/2005 : 20:18:09 I just heard on the local radio station "they have not split up, the rumors are not true, they just have a new bass player now".
I'm just passing it along, thought it might be happy news. I know nuthink.

Posted - 01/12/2005 : 10:43:54 I (he) is pissed off by the news, well more saddned really. However I'll update the situation for anyone who cares. Falco (vocals) and Jack (Drums) will continue as a new band, Falco may also have a side project with a member from oceansize. Jon (Bass) left mclusky for (to me) unknown reasons and will continue in his band 'shooting at unarmed men'. As for mclusky a 3xcd set will be released in the not to distant future featuring all 11, a-sides 23, b-sides maybe a live set and other rarities and whatnot. A dvd was mentioned but it seems that was all just rumour. The website went down due to some virus that attacks phppb forums and so a new one was made just before the split. And that is that. Im glad I went to the trouble of seeing them 9 times in the past year and a half, for those who missed them, you missed out. And thats, that.

Posted - 01/10/2005 : 15:33:42 Seriously Mike, I feel for ya. I am loving so many new bands at the moment. It seems like the most prolific time in my life right now.
I hope things change for you.

Posted - 01/10/2005 : 15:18:47 Yeah, it's really bad. I used to actually look forward to going to record stores to try to find this or that new record by this or that group, and now I can't say that I'm looking forward to anything.

Is it just me, or is that really quite odd?

Posted - 01/10/2005 : 13:38:13 Yeah they were really the only band I was currently interested in seeing again or hearing new material from seriously. The only current band that I could stand is now a thing of the past. That fucking sucks. Explains why their website has been down though.
