Posted - 01/10/2005 : 00:41:38 saw this tonight. i'm thinking it might tie for first place in my best of 2004 (with SIDEWAYS). excellent excellent film.
old fashioned. no frills. straightforward story. just excellent writing, acting and a hard hitting story. in the hands of someone else it might have come across as too sappy. but, despite how sappy a story it is (depressing as fuck), it works. Clint Eastwood deserves serious props as a director. if there's any justice in the world he'll get a best director nomination. i'm sure hilary swank will get a nomination.
even for a man whose heart is made from a snow cone, i almost cried. didn't quite tear up. but the heart strings were tugged pretty fiercely.
i say go see it.

Posted - 01/10/2005 : 09:21:37 I cannot wait to see Sideways. Giamatti was terrific in American Splendor. If Sideways gets a local release it will only be months from now which sucks.
Eastwood did a good job on Mystic River and I like Hilary Swank. An Eastwood film will most certainly be released here ASAP so there is something to look forward to.
