Ok... I don't know if you guys will be sad or happy. (Sad because they seemed like a cute loving couple or happy because it looks like Brad and Jennifer will be back on the market.) Hopefully they will work it out!

LOS ANGELES Jan 7, 2005 — Hollywood glamour couple Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston have split, Pitt's longtime publicist confirmed Friday.

"We would like to announce that after seven years together we have decided to formally separate," the couple said in a joint statement released by Pitt's publicist Cindy Guagenti. "For those who follow these sorts of things, we would like to explain that our separation is not the result of any speculation reported by the tabloid media. This decision is the result of much thoughtful consideration."

The couple didn't indicate if they planned to file for divorce, and Guagenti declined to comment beyond the statement.

The separation, first reported on People magazine's Web site, comes 4 1/2 years after the couple's Malibu wedding and after months of speculation that their marriage was in trouble.

Aniston has recently been photographed in public without her diamond-studded wedding ring, according to People, although the magazine said the couple had spent the New Year's weekend together on the Caribbean island of Anguilla with Aniston's former "Friends" co-star Courteney Cox and her husband, actor David Arquette.

Pitt, 41, and Aniston, 35, have been together since being set up on a blind date in 1998. They were married in 2000 in a lavish wedding at a Malibu estate overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Some 200 people attended the wedding that included four bands, a gospel choir, fireworks and tens of thousands of flowers.

Part of Pacific Coast Highway was shut down to accommodate the influx of guests, which included actress Cameron Diaz and most of Aniston's "Friends" co-stars.

Girls, I know a great justice of the peace who can perform
a lovely gay marriage for you. Rita and I will wear matching
bridesmaid dresses. The food and music will be perfect.
We will toast you with fine Vermont maple syrup. Brian
and Dean can say a few words. The security goons around the plush-but-secluded property will keep floop and his people off the premises. And Sir Rock will not be allowed to do any
underage drinking.

That's it! That's who Brad should be with now, Angelina Jolie. She's good enough for him.

Rumour is, she's dating her recent co-star, Colin Farrell now though.

Now that I think about it, I was kind of bummed when Jack White and Renee Zellweger broke up. It was always fun reading about them. I'm a dork.

You know Aniston didn't want to get pregnant because she's scared of getting fat, she's a walking eating disorder if ever there was one. The obvious solution would have been for Brad to knock up some random waitress/PA/Angelina Jolie, pay them off, and get the baby thing out of his system that way. I can't believe none of his "people" suggested it.

Cool, if I knuckle down to my studies I'm sure I can figure out some sort of egg-egg fusion baby action.

It will be a beautiful drunken affair

I think that sort of thing should be sorted before you get married. I can't see myself settling with anyone who doesn't want children because I do.

I also don't hald with this 'staying together for the sake of the children' crap either, it was a relief when my parents divorced, lovely people terrible couple.

No, but somethings got to give and as you say, it should never be the one who doesn't want them.

I know three miserable couples where the husband
agreed to have kids to make the wife happy .. and now every-
body's miserable. Kids are a major lifestyle disruption,
even if your biggest wish was to become a parent.
It's perfectly fine to desire or not desire parenthood but
parenthood is not a favor you do for your spouse.
You've really got to want it for yourself.

Then again, I can't imagine having left my husband if he hadn't shared my dream of becoming a parent.

I know couples like this Kathryn, and you're right, I can't think of much worse. Hard to see how they can carry on really.

It's hard to comment on a relationship from the outside looking
in, especially when all you have to go on is press reports. But
I can't imagine of anything worse than not wanting a kid but
having a spouse who does. Then again it would totally suck
to have a kid just to please your spouse.

Yeah, I hear you. It's wild they seemed so in love. So is that why they are saying they spit because of her career? Well I guess you never know how happy anyone is hollywood or non hollywood.
kathryn Posted - 01/10/2005 : 19:22:39
Daisy, I love you but I have one word for you: Hollywood.
She's an actress for chrissake. Of course she chose her
career over a relationship. If the reports are to be believed.

Several paparazzi (sp?) and Rita have photographic evidence of said
handholding, floop. Time to get your publicist and attorneys to clear
this one up.

Sources say that the split may have been caused by
Tre, who was seen walking out of a take-away curry
place in Camden holding hands with Floop.

From http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds18247.html

Yesterday the News of the World reported that the split may have been caused by Aniston catching Brad having phone sex with Angelina Jolie. The two often spoke together on the phone with lowered voices, a source told the newspaper.

Although they're not married,
if Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell ever break up I'm getting divorced because it'll just go to show that not a single marriage I know has worked ever...

i feel empathy for Brad because i identify with him. we both have extreme good looks AND wealth, and only people like us know how hard that can be.

Yeah crying about it is a bit overboard IMO.

At least Brad is single though now. I always said he could do better.

How are you doing Emily? Don't see you round here too much nowadays.

Yeah, empathy is not a bad emotion to have. If anything, I imagine it would be bizarre and that much harder to go through something so private, in public. But you won't see me crying about it.

While I don't really get what's so great about Brad and Jen, I can understand feeling empathy for a celebrity you identify with who is going through a tough time. For example, I remember feeling very bad for Frank when I learned he and Jean had split after all that time. But I do agree that some people are going overboard with the whole thing. They interviewed a few girls on the news here that were actually crying about the whole thing. To each his own, I guess.

Is weird how people get personally "involved" in this. I was sad for a moment and then thought "um, I don't know these people". They did "seem" to be fairly well matched, whatever that means.
