I ran into this on boingboing.net a while ago:

"This is both very cool and very scary. Use this search string below with Google, and you will find dozens (hundreds?) of unsecured webcam feeds (most seem to be security cams)."

inurl:"ViewerFrame?Mode="

or

inurl:"MultiCameraFrame?Mode="

My dad did the same at the British watering holes, he'd put us under the table in case any of the lions head staff noticed there were kids in the pub, but he'd drag us out if any elephant women came in. Mostly though we hid from the crashing boars...

see what I did there

(I really need to sleep more)

No, not once did we see lions at the watering hole. My dad had this photography craze for a while and his plan was to take some great pictures of lions hunting down their prey. (Lions sometimes hunt at the watering holes because the other animals let their guard down a bit when drinking water)

The national park has these elevated wooden structures (hides) next to the watering holes so once you are inside it is quite safe if any lions or elephants should show up.

Cool Apl. Well if you see a chick with brown hair and a black coat waiving at the security cam that's me saying hi to you!
kathryn Posted - 01/06/2005 : 12:17:36
Many thanks, Apl!

The pool I swim at has a webcam going 24/7. It's a huge
space so what you see on the webcam isn't that good or
clear, but still...it's weird being somewhere where you know
that someone could be watching what you're doing, even
if you're underwater.

I still believe in the excellent joy of the Frank

What's he doing in there?!?! I heard Tom Waits grumble that line when I started to reading your post Apl.

My parents used to stop and wait for animals at the watering holes while we were on holidays in the Kruger National Park. Not much fun when it is hot and you're 7 years old.

What's he building in there?!? Is it a boat? How the hell are they planning to get it out of that little room with the little door?

This blog has some great working camera links:

If anyone is having trouble getting search results to work, the meta filter, graffe, and other sites have posts with a bunch of working links:

What the hell is up with this one?

Feel bad you're not getting anything doen? Watch someone else working in Bogota. They're playing with an office chair at the moment heheheh!

Are you pulling my leg Owen edit: sorry! - Wilhelm? Did you really wait for lions at the watering hole, or is that some sort of joke the locals play on tourists?

This reminds me of a few hellish, boring days I've had as kid waiting at a watering hole for lions to appear.

I think I'm also possibly missing the plug-in. I tried it in Opera first and it wasn't working... then I tried it in IE and it wasn't working. IT IS JUST PLAIN NOT WORKING!

EDIT:
I just got it to work, I tried about 1,000 different search results and most of them weren't working. Finally I skipped to page 24 and now I'm looking at some street somwhere.

he was really cool. i was low low man on the totem pole at that juncture and i used to have to call him in NY and arrange shipping of tapes and stuff and he'd always talk my ear off. i'd be like, "how's it going?" and he'd complain about how he was trying to get the work done for our project but people kept calling, but not in a dickish way.. and then he'd sit there and explain the intricacies of what he was having a hard time with. meanwhile i'm mr. schlep nobody. pretty funny guy.

i might still have his number if you want to crank call him

I had some trouble with some of them (on mac os 10.3.7, with Firefox), but there should be some that work. Seems a few need a specific Java plugin I don't have.

It still could be! Let me know if you see Roberto Benigni in any of those web cams. I was going to watch Down By Law tonight but sadly, ran out of time.

I wonder where this could be. Daisy, they have snow:
