My son got some of these for xmas;

It says they live upto 70 days and can grow fairly large;

It also says they might eat eachother!

We're about to start'em up.
They hatch in 24 hours.
Keep you posted...

I give!
I followed the directions to a T for adding water and the freaking thing died! How these things have been around for a million years but die with a little more water is beyond me...

RIP Stretch.

I don't know if I have it in me to try again...

That happened to my sea monkeys a few years ago. The big one ate all the others in the space of a week even though I fed them however much the booklet recommended. We named him Hannibal, and he lived for a really long time.

Wow the other two disappeared with out a trace?
Carolynanna Posted - 01/09/2005 : 14:44:00
Well there were 3, but when we went to change the water today there was only the big fat one left. Draw your own conclusions...

Carloynanna,

That is so sweet! We feel so honored that you chose the name stretch. If you're looking for some triops god parents, we are up to fit the bill. Suddenly, those little Triops' seem so cute.

How are they doing?

(Off topic a bit but yes I have to agree.
Once when I was really really little my mom bought me a Wonder Woman doll for my birthday. I was so stoked when I got it. She was dressed in her daytime clothes and I promptly took her out of the package and gave her a good twirl thinking she would magically turn into Wonder Woman, satin tights and all, just like the TV show. Yeah I cried for days...)

Anyway back on topic, I think I will call the first one stretch as he's so much bigger. Then the next ones will be creepy and doodad. :)

(Again off topic. KOK that is funny. Reminds me of my hubby when I was pregnant. He wanted to name the kid Buddy. Not for Mr.Holly but just so he could say Hey little Buddy...)

I was looking at these things a few months ago. I always like naming my pets something easy to remember. I used to call my cat "Cat". I use to call my bird "Bird"
I used to call my lizard "Lizard". I used to call my Guinea pig "Pig". I used to call my girlfriend "Woman". I used to call my... Well, you get the idea. Anyways, maybe you should calll your creepy creature "Creepy".

I used to beg my mom constantly to order some sea monkeys for me. After much pleading she finally said she did but they never arrived. I believe she never really did order them (we don't speak any more either). I was so consumed with the thought of the 'Sea Monkeys" arriving that it was all I talked about. To shut me up the seven year old neighbor kid told me he had one, but it died and he buried it under the porch. I took a table spoon and used it to dig around for it under that p[orch for weeks. I never did find anything.
All of the other high schoolers used to tease me and try to take my digging spoon during lunch period or in the hallways between classes.

Look who's laughing now

They've hatched!

I thought it didn't work, but today I saw somethings moving.
They are tiny, like a speck of dust but definitely alive.
And so much for 3 or 4, I counted 15, very very small eggs.
Not much to photograph, but I will as they get bigger.

Sorry to crash your little thread all, but i got some of these 'face-huggers' too as a pressie, and like Tre, bit wary and nervous bout hatching them. Don't know what could happen to this now stable world I live in. Took me ages and plenty of hypnotherapy to get over the shock of finding my little dead nemo on the floor after she'd jumped her tank. What the heck could these little critters get up to?

I'm picking them up today from up north where they've been since the 25th, and bringing them back home.

So do I or don't I bring them to life? I hate playing God.
bumblebeeboy2 Posted - 01/02/2005 : 03:49:18
yeah they are from brine shrimp. very similar.

wow it will be cool to see what happens. Yeah when it is that cold, it is so tough to keep the room temps that high. Good luck!!
Carolynanna Posted - 12/31/2004 : 08:30:34
Well daisy I think 3 or 4 slipped in. Those eggs are tiny.
And I don't see anything yet!
I'm having a hard time keeping the water temp between 23-29 (that's 74 to 84 for you yanks:) when its 30 below outside.
I'll give it a little bit longer.
