So yeah, another pointless listing exercise.
What CD's are you taking on holiday with you? I'm sure this doesn't apply to everyone, but I'm going to my folks' for Christmas and New Years, and I'm taking the following albums:

Frank Black - Teenager Of The Year
Jeff Buckley - Grace
Elliott Smith - From A Basement On The Hill
Low - Secret Name
Interpol - Turn On The Bright Lights
Tanya Donelly - Whiskey Tango Ghosts
The Cure - Disintegration
Throwing Muses - The Real Ramona

Mercury Rev and Grandaddy are very appropriate for this period of the year.

I'll take the last CDs I bought:
Blondie - Plastic letters
Willie Nelson - Red Headed Stranger (friggin' awesome)
Rules Of Attraction OST
Jeff Mills - Three Ages DVD + CD
FBF
Honeycomb (OK, I didn't buy this one)
X - Los Angeles

gotta work on that list, my train leaves in 4 hours.

Hey - someone had to wade in and take control...

I thought I could see the light at the end of the tunnel, but it was
just some b*stard with a torch, bringing me more work.

Thank you Nicole! Way to professionally hijack the topic Mike

The soundtrack to my roadtrip is pretty much as follows:

3 Pixies and Frank mixes, Death From Above 1979 - You're a Woman, I'm a Machine, Electric Six - Fire, AC/DC mixes, some old funk mixes, Mastodon - Leviathan, some old Hendrix mixes, Lynyrd Skynyrd, some old Aerosmith, as much Fu Manchu I can lay my hands on, Tomahawk, Dillinger Escape Plan - Miss Machine, Fantomas - Directors Cut and loads of Mark Lanegan, Eagles of Death Metal, Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age.

And then to even things out somewhat a choice selection from the mix cd games.

I hear good things about him, but haven't yet. You heard MC Paul Barman? He's amazing. I tend to lean away from the more "intelligent" hip hop though for some reason and like ones that people think very little of like DMX.

I like this canadian K-os guy very much. Heard of him?
He's really jazzy and groovy.

Finally, a change from these fake rap artists. Me and Nas bring it to you hardest.

Slick Rick? You're cool Mike.

And yes I hate best of albums, especially for artists/bands that only have like 2 albums anyways.

I just wandered into the hip hop section with my eyes closed and grabbed the first CD that came to hand. Just walking into the hip hop section felt grubby.

Well I bought the new Nas for myself, a double album for $11, and it's very good, but I like some rap that most people don't seem to get. I also love Slick Rick.

I almost had to buy Josh Groban Live at the Greek for someone this year as well. Then I saw Clerks X and decided to get that for him instead, turns out he has it, what a bad decision.

I have to buy an Embrace CD, which sucks mightily (although Shiney may disagree). I wish my family wanted McLusky...

I almost bought a HIM thing for a friend, but I figured she might already have it. So knowing she liked mclusky a lot I got her "The Difference Between Me and You is I'm Not On Fire", much happier with that purchase. Honestly I don't think I've cringed at any of them this year. Well except getting Shania Twains Greatest Hits for the boss... On a side note does everyone have a fucking Greatest Hits package now? I got so pissed when the 311 was released just so they could milk some more fucking money out of their shitty cover of "lovesong".

Yeah I hear ya.
I just picked up an Alanis Morrisette cd for my mom.
Oh and once I bought a GWAR cd for my husband.
Enough said.

I'd be interested in seeing what CDs everyone has bought for others? Don't you feel dirty picking some stuff up for people even though you know they want it?

Be assured that if I had either a Boney M CD, or an Adam & The Ants one, they would definitely be on the list.

Maybe I'll go second hand shopping while I'm away...
