I don't know if this subject will be considered "taboo" amongst my fellow forum members; but just recently my computer's hard-drive died and I was forced to swap my secondary drive with my main drive (it's not really that upsetting because the drive that died was eight years old)

So lately I've been re-installing software, one piece of software that I could not find was Kazaa Lite. I usta' have it installed but now upon looking for it - I could not find it! Google won't even show the download sites on their search results anymore do to some sort of trouble with Sherman Industries.

I was wondering if any of you have a specific file sharing application you prefer, since I tried eMule for a little while... but it just wasn't as good as I remember it.

hey, i'm almost back. i was away for the holidays then i came back and i moved to a new appartment, i had a load of stuff to do, no internet connection at home right now, and my brand new state-of-the-art cable broad band modem has not yet arrived because those dumbasses that work at my provider say that they don't have it in stock they just order modems only when you apply for a new connection. go figure. anyway i should be back on line in the next couple of weeks, hopefully with a faster connection and i'll keep sharing my fb\pixies collection. btw i have some new stuff like the complete italian pixies show in dvd that i would like to torrent if i figure out how to seed video.

Where's Mun Chien nowadays?

Soulseek's great. A little persistency is very rewarding. And thanks to all who share there.

You weren't in the Frank room when I went. Nor are you there now. In fact you are still not in Soulseek at all.

I think it was because I hadn't set a shared folder for people to take stuff from me. I have done it now, but the guy is away all the time so I can't let him know.

I noticed that you aint been around either Obfuscate.

Means the guy you were DLing from banned you.

If he has something fairly rare, just ask him to lift the ban.

I don't like soulseek very much, I've been using Morpheous allot lately... but it's still a pain in the ass, because it runs like a mule with broken legs on my old computer... limewire is the same.

I even tried downloading the retail version of Kazaa but it... just won't work! I get to the install screen and it's just kind of blank. It's very strange, I still haven't got around to finding the Lite K++ version. Maybe if I looked on IRC or something...

I found a bunch of rare stuff on soulseek, but now whenever I run it I get some strange error message, probably because I'm running internet connection sharing on my computer or something.

GOD DAMN YOU "ILLEGAL OPERATION" ERROR MESSAGE! DAMN YOU TO HELL!
Stuart Posted - 01/23/2005 : 20:26:57
I use soulseek, the best I reckon.... can be a little slow.. but you can pick up decent rare stuff.

This is a high class bureau de change, not some Punch & Judy show on the seafront at Margate!

Damn, I thought the fb.net room was long dead *runs off to refresh room list*

HPM, I think they all try to put in something about banning commercial releases. The only place I've been where they actually do it is Easytree. Slsk is a thousand times better than kaaza or limewire, unless you're looking for a Britney Spears record or something like that. Not much top 40 floating around.

Does this mean that the Soulseek admin actively seek out people who are sharing copyrighted material?

Obviously it's illiegal wherever you do it, but do they actually stop it on Soulseek?

Just covering their asses, I guess.

There is a TON of FB on slsk, but you have to be really persistent. If I find someone with a bunch of cool stuff they go up on my list right away, and I usually PM them as well and let them know I'll be bleeding them dry. I had an older version of it on my laptop and I started having problems with it when I put whatever the new version is on my PC last month. The search function hasn't been working too well, my download times have been crazy slow, regardless of who I'm downloading from. Ugh. But whoever runs it did sent out a mass PM the other night saying they know about the problems and they're working on it, so I guess we'll see.

Aside from recently, I've used Soulseek for my sharing needs. Now I have increasing trouble finding what I'm looking for and may have to look elsewhere.

I tryed Soulseek and there wasn't really allot of Frank Black, any Frank Black I did find was stuff I hadn't heard before but it seemed impossible to download. (no matter how long I waited)

However on Soulseek I started downloading some Pixies from a random person, and while I was browsing their file catoloug they happened to have a bunch of pictures shared. They were titles like "IMC0004.jpg" that you would see if you copied something directly of a digital camera or anything.

I ended up downloading 300mb worth of hi-res pictures and it turns out it's some random indie chick taking pictures with her friends. It was a pretty big internet perv moment even for myself as I quickly shuffled through each pictures. Nothing of interest, she was sharing the entier Doolittle album and these pictures. (possibly by accident)

I then went on to try Limewire after a friend recommended it to me over the telephone - I didn't like it. It seemed to slowly choke my computer to death. (My computer is 9 years old) Ontop of that I had trouble finding Frank Black there too.

I was talking with my friend Ashley later on and she told me to try the Frank Black FTP, I didn't know there was a Frank Black FTP so I tryed that out. Except it didn't work, I later found out it was down or something like that. Or it wouldn't be returning anytime soon atleast.

I've been looking everywhere for the Kazaa Lite installer but it's nowhere to be found on the internet for some reason, maybe some impending lawsuits from Sherman Industries. Regardless I have a friend who happens to have the installer on one of his hard-drives.

The problem is he's scared to mess with that kind of stuff - stuff such as opening computers, replacing parts; you know, that entier bag. So I guess he's gonna stop by with his hard-drive one of these days and let me copy it off. Seeing as how he also wants me to burn a bunch of information for him from the hard-drive (since he just got a new computer).

I think I might try Morpheous now... if anyone still has any suggestions, I'll be more then happy to try them.

P.S.
Also forgot to mention that I tried eMule and WinMX and they weren't that great either. (WinMX wasn't as great as I rememberd it)

I have gone back to Limewire, after a stint with Kazaa.

Soulseek has been pretty awful lately, anyone noticed? Where do you share the groove with bit torrent these days? I'm looking for some 50' Wave to check out before my trip to the big apple, and I have yet to find a SINGLE match in Slsk.

Yes, soulseek is definitely as good as it gets; although I don't use it much anymore, as I get most of my stuff from bit torrent downloads.
