Posted - 12/11/2004 : 09:58:15 In 3 days I’m leaving the wonderful (cough) land of England for the sunny climes of Perth Australia (via a month travelling through Scotland, Eastern Europe and finally New York City), and felt the need to say goodbye to some lovely people I have met and not met from this amazing forum. I haven’t posted here for a good while because since I have been very busy at work, slacking just isn’t possible, and without access to a computer at home, not many opportunities to post. But I have been checking back every now and then.
This forum kept me sane through the 6 months of working for the BBC from October 2003 to March 2004, and I shall forever be thankful to everyone here for that time.
I shall continue posting once I arrive firstly, back home in New Zealand, and then in Australia, but it seems a fairly large section of my life is about to end and therefore needs book-ending.
So extra special shout-outs to Cheeseman (for the free gig tickets), GyspyDeath (for the cleavage), homers_pet_monkey (for the Topman) and bumblebeeboy2 (for being a nutter), and many others with whom I feel I now know, albeit just a bit.
So now for my top 6 experiences of my 16 months living in London, and simply the only reasons I can think of for living here: 1. Seeing the Pixies 3 times. 2. Beautiful English & European Beers that you simply don’t get in New Zealand. 3. The proximity to extraordinary countries which are soo much better than England. 4. The amazing gigs that are available all the goddam time. 5. Old English Pubs. 6. Squirrels.
So again, many thanks…and if anyone’s heading towards New Zealand or Perth, drop me a line.
cheers all,
isaac (aka benji)

Seriously though, Warsaw is fantastic. Have you noticed how beautiful the women are? The best in the world I think.
Oh and try Zywiec, that's a nice beer that they sell in my regular bar in Manchester.
Happy travels.

Posted - 12/12/2004 : 07:11:03 Hey Benji, sad to see ya go.
I too was looking for another meet up, but i really wanna go to new zealand some time, so, you wont be getting rid of me that easy.
Hope all goes well for you and your wife, and I think what youre doing is really exciting, and being able to share that with some one you love must be amazing.
anyway, best wishes for your travels, and final home coming!
Now I do as I please and lie through my teeth. Someone might get hurt but it won't be me. I should probably feel cheap but I just feel free and a little bit empty. No it isn't so hard to get close to me. There will be no arguments. We will always agree. And I will try and be kind when I ask you to leave. We will both take it easy. But if you stay too long inside my memory, I will trap you in a song tied to a melody and I will keep you there so you can't bother me. |

Posted - 12/11/2004 : 14:36:36 So long Isaac, its been really good to know you in both real and unreal environments. It's going to suck having to persuade people to come to free gigs with me because they're not familiar with decent music! I'll certainly look you up next time I'm in Perth (yeah right), and you'll have to do the same if you ever make it back to this much-maligned island paradise (also yeah right, like anyone would want to swap the southern hemisphere for London).
Take care then chap, have a good time on your hols and on your Antipodean voyages, and please do continue to post here.
Mike too!

Posted - 12/11/2004 : 13:00:24 Bloody hell, lucky I popped in whilst at my friend's flat. Sorry to hear you are leaving Isaac, you are a genuinely top man (no pun intended). It's a damn shame that I will never get to meet you again, especially as I was hoping to plan another meet-up if I ever get back online. Good luck Issac with everything you get up to in the future. I really mean that
P.S - I still love the rest off you too, and miss you 'cos I'm a sad bastard! But yeah, I miss this place

Posted - 12/11/2004 : 11:50:35 You lucky bastard - you get to leave Pestilance Isle for the sunny southern hemisphere! (Sorry English people but I'm struggling with the winter). Good luck and enjoy it. I still listen to your mix cd. Come back to the forum soon.
I thought I could see the light at the end of the tunnel, but it was just some b*stard with a torch, bringing me more work. |
