Do you girls and boys like driving?

I love driving. I used to drive a lot when I was around 20 - I was living in south-western France where there are some very nice roads.

You feel so free.

I miss the smell of fuel.

Sorted. One came through blank for some reason...

How much would it cost to drive one-way across US in terms of gas with today's prices?

a) I hope you don't drive like you type
b) You are typing in the dark as well
c) all of the above

Floop, that's impressive, man. I've done it twice, too, but always with my husband, never solo. (I know that that sentence just sounds rife for misinterpretation, but you know what I mean.)

I am thinking of moving to the USA, actually...

In a few years? You guys plan ahead. Who knows what will be left standing in a few years. Check back with me closer to your travel date and check out the "places you'd like to live" thread.

Good day to you. Speaking of driving and whatnot, my girfriend and I are planning a trip to America in a few years. I've got a big map on my wall with bits of string and coloured dots all over it. Are there any other really cool drives or places to drive to? Any ideas would be much appreciated, ta.

I love driving. There's something about being on a rickety highway in the middle of the prairies on a sunny day with Dog in the Sand playing that makes me feel like whatever happens, everything is okay.

I'm almost 27, and I've only had a driver's license for two years. I do like driving, as long as it's not in heavy traffic or on confusing roads I don't know. I haven't been on any long road trips yet, but that's something I might well consider doing in the future.

I'd rather be the passenger for road trips.
I think I'd kill some people if I drove, as I'm always paying attention to the scenery.
Thank goodness for rumble strips.

Thanks for the high regard there KoK, but I have to think that if I am anyone's comedic idol it's a pretty sad commentary on the state of the comedic arts in general. *fart*.

I like very much driving alone, with my music very loud, and windows closed, it makes me feel apart from all the others...

Cheeseman, I´m going to London to spend the last week of the year and the New year, could you tell me some places to visit? Not the touristic ones.

I love driving.
People say you don't need a car in London, and its true, you don't.

But it's soooo much better with.

I took a trip through Somerset (SW England) recently, and its just ace.

Can't (legally) drive yet - love being a passenger (probably one of the reasons it's taking me so long to learn.) I grew up on a farm pretty far away from most bits of civillisation which meant an hour on the bus every day going over quite an impressive mountain range as a kid going to school. Needless to say it's left a lasting impression - stick me in a car as a passenger and I'm happy . I cannot wait for my roadtrip at the end of the year.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but, rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming "Fuck, what a trip!"

Yes Monsieur, I miss driving too. Selling my Golf TDI was a real pain when moving to Paris.
I used to enjoy a one-CD-long trip, in the morning. Going from Montpellier to Palavas, watch the sea, smoke a cigarette, and come back by some little roads in the countryside. Wonderful.
I would really love to experiment listening to Smile in a car, driving thru some beautiful landscape.
This summer it was great to drive in Spain, when going from Cadaques to Cap Creus playing Phoenix's United CD.

My family loves taking little trips.

-

We've been heading off about once or twice a week.

Normally for 3-6 hours. Talking. Listening to music. Enjoying (the state of) Virginia and her seasons.

-

Last night I went off to the store for some celery seed.

On the way back, my fukukin' crank-shaft pulley thing fell off. I mean, I stopped at a stoplight and it fell off.

Seems the seal broke. Or snapped or frayed or whatever. I guess it managed to shimmy off of the engine. It was running fine and then.. *crunkpopwhirrrrrrrrclankclankclank*

-

Any car guys in the house?

Know if you can buy a crank-shaft pulley seal for an '89 Buick Century? (I can't find one.)

Take a bite of the chocolate coffin.

In the background is my favorite radio host, Dick Buckley, playing some of my favorite jazz music, on a sunny Sunday afternoon. There's a snippet of SpudBoy driving (he hates cameras, that's me giggling after I got him).

If you want to see it, it's on my website. You can download it here:

It's not the best quality since I made it with my camera, with no intent of it having an audience, but I promise, no trojan virus! Plus, it'll be like taking a tiny road trip with Apl and SpudBoy. Fun, huh? ;)

Is Spudboy your hubby!!?? He is my online comedic Idol!! Your so lucky!

Wow, I just realized something. I just pulled this picture off of the internet, and then I recognized this lady. I bought some empenadas from her in Tamarindo.
It was about one hundred degrees out and we were pretty sure this lady had that old school, third world mentality on bathing.
My friends couldn't watch me eat those things. Their loss, because they were delicious.

Driving down the Pan American highway on my way to my new home, Costa Rica.

Drink some frosty ones...

And meet some local honeys...

Oh, uh? Maybe I should meet the local honeys before the frosty ones.
