I drove around all morning looking for a cheap bargain K-Tel type of CD with this song on it, and managed to find one. It's an underrated or just plain forgotten Beach Boys song, and it's definitely one of their best, primarily because of the awesome harmonies and key changes that persist throughout the entire song, making the song soar to different levels, yet it's still all fluid and seamless.

Does anyone know of other fairly unknown Beach Boys songs that are in a similar vein to this?

Inna zany combination of Wayne's Pet Youngin'!

You should try Disney Girls, it's Carl and not Brian but oh so perfect.

Why don’t you learn to tune your damn guitar?”

Girls on the Beach is an amazing song, and although it's not one of my favorites, it features one of the best vocal performances in rock music. The range is enormous and Brian just nails it.

Don't know which original LP it was on, but it does appear on the ubiquitous greatest-hits compilation "Endless Summer". "Surfer Girl" is also on there, which sounds fairly similar to "Girls on the Beach" and is better IMO.
