Posted - 11/05/2004 : 06:28:10 I LOVE THIS BAND ! i think they are absolutely great - despite being, well, country, sort of, they rock like they have invented rock. i have three albums - flubber & notes campfire are astonishing. anybody else likes them ? does anybody know if they still exist ?

Posted - 11/08/2004 : 03:34:26 looked at the epi-something website. looks like they don't really exist any more. it's a pity.
btw, i've FE, FROZEN and FLUBBER. i don't know NOTES CAMPFIRE, i just know the so-called song on FE. so it is FE which i recommend strongly. good cover to, if you like cats.

Posted - 11/05/2004 : 08:45:39 Thanks for reminding me of this band. I'm listening now and it's pretty perfect for my mood today.
In return, here's a bunch of stuff that I love (including the bands I mentioned before) that I think you would really enjoy as well. Free mp3s at these links:
Calexico Papa M My Morning Jacket The Handsome Family Okkervil River Ray's Vast Basement
To you my heart cries out "Porphyria," For I found you, the love of my life, In somebody else's arms, Your eyes are echoing "Porphyria," Forgetful of our promise of love, You're sharing another's charms With a sad lament, my dreams Have faded like a broken melody; While the gods of love look down and laugh At what romantic fools we mortals be |

Posted - 11/05/2004 : 08:05:44 i really suggest "notes campfire" to buy first.
additionally to "flubber" i know "frozen" - this is one of the strangest albums ever. they play e x t r e m e l y slow on this album. very odd sound.
souled american are hard to describe, i think. it's mostly acoustic instruments, lots of guitars. good singers voice, but odd also. and as i wrote first, they just rock. they make you to want to headbang to country music - no, not headbanging, but the similiar feel i have when i listen to headache or freedom rock. they are pretty unique, and they just have good songs. and it is not really country, but...i can't find a word. try them out.
Handsome Family or Ray's Vast Basement? no, but i'll check them out, thanks !

Posted - 11/05/2004 : 07:20:54 I really like them A LOT!
I haven't been able to fit them into our music purchases for some reason. Always something else taking precedence. When I have wanted a country/western-influenced album I was filling out my Calexico and Black Heart Procession collections. I think I'll be picking up some soon now. Which album would you suggest getting first?
There are several mp3s at www.epitonic.com/artists/souledamerican.html
Have you heard Handsome Family or Ray's Vast Basement? I think you can find free mp3s on epitonic too. They have a similar feel, and are also on my to buy list.
