My girlfriend saw a mouse in our kitchen last night, on the counter, scared the shit out of her... we thought we had a mouse a year ago, living in the loft, but thought it had died or something but seems it's still about. quite annoying, especially with it being around our food and we're on the 3rd and top floor of our building (sharing with 1 other flat, which is unnoccupied at the moment)... any suggestions to get rid? my gf has already put one plan into action, but i was wondering if anyone has any other ideas? i mean it's the first time we've seen this mouse, so it may not be a regular visitor to the kitchen. in fact the kitchen is an extention of the building, it's upstairs to the rest of the flat, so this mouse is climbing the water pipes through the loft into the kitchen it seems, we didn't realise it could!

But how was it a story? Where's the plot? Where's the setting? Where are the characters? Where's the conclusion? Where's the Invocation to the Muse?

Leave me and my cats alone Tre. Why must you always pick fights with me?

Sorry, it is truth.

We caught a baby mouse the other day and took it on the bus and set it free. He was a tiny widdle baby.

haha, I know I know.
My cat eats wasps too and I always think jesus Bonesy be careful!
Sometimes if there's some sort of moth or bug I don't like I just pick her up, aim her at it until she's locked on, and let her go...:)

Well its about -20 (thats celcius) and I had completely forgotten we have to remove the nest in the attic until this thread was resurrected.

Does anyone know any of the answers to my previous questions?
Why do they go back to this nest? (Don't they just die in the winter?)
Do they hibernate?
What's the lifespan of a wasp?

You can borrow my cats if you like - woke up on Saturday blinding hangover to discover 2 decapitated and disemboweled mice waiting for me on the stairs.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but, rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming "Fuck, what a trip!"

We have the same problem. On a sunny day it's worse, there are probably about 10 or so freaking out in the windows or buzzing across the living room on what seems like a kamikaze mission. It's even more scary since SpudBoy is allergic to them. I say keep a vacuum cleaner and long attachment nozzle handy.

That sounds bad.
Carolynanna Posted - 11/03/2004 : 15:37:19
Nevermind the mice,
I got a wasps nest in the attic.
Its still warm enough for them to be alive,
but cold enough so that they're coming inside.
Its like my worst nightmare come true!

What's the deal with wasps?
Do they hibernate?
Why do they go back to this nest?
What's the lifespan of a wasp?

I'm scared.
This has happened to me once before.
And the dumbass that I was dating plugged the hole in the shingle from the outside right after spraying the nest!
It was raining half dead squirmy wasps in my house!

We drove to Chicago on Saturday to see Social Distortion, parked the car at the hotel, next day got the car and drove to get brunch, went back to the car around 1 PM, and discovered there was a (very tired) mouse in the car. SpudBoy picked him up by the tail and tried to gently arrange its feet beneath it on the parking garage floor. Seems they don't take road trips too well. I don't think it lasted another 5 minutes.
BLT Posted - 11/01/2004 : 08:53:31
Forget the humane traps. You need to kill them dead before they reproduce again. I've caught many mice and rats with standard mouse traps (Victor style). As noted by others, the best bait is peanut butter. They can't resist the stuff, and the preservatives and hydrogenated oil make it last forever.

thats a lot o stairs for a little mouse to climb...must be shattered.

Ah thank you for reminding me of that slaveish, that's my favorite story from "Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim". I was laughing with tears in my eyes every 15 seconds reading it in bed, making my husband really wonder for my sanity I imagine. Something about Sedaris' sudden horrified realization that his house was full of morbid oddities (hits close to home), and then of course the poor lost troop of elderly foreign tourists pulling up at his door asking for directions at 3 in the morning while he's awkwardly drowning this little mouse in a bucket on the front steps. Oh lord!

One of the funniest damn things I've ever read. I love David Sedaris!

I think you should go and call on Mikey to come and catch the mouse. It may give him an ego boost and make him feel manly. If not, then he too will run screaming like a girl, and you can tell us all about it (with pictures?) and we can laugh at him. a lot.

Id come get the mice for you. Im great at mouse catching. (yes, I am a cat). Dont kill it!
