I just found out 2 days ago(?) that Broadband Over Power Lines was approved by the FCC. Shortwave radio (including the international news stations) and HAM radio, including Emergency Service bands, will be useless once the new service goes into effect.

I couldn't get to sleep for a long time after learning that. This is huge, and horrifying. Remember where communications are redirected in times of national crisis, and I have to wonder who the FCC is looking out for in this decision.

Interesting. I agree we need the ham lines in case of a national disaster or something.
I bet this is a combination of the electric industry lobbby and perhaps people not knowing the ramifications until they have announced to the public that they are doing this. |

yeah this is retarded, this is a shitty and fucked up industry (power) trying to cash in on something that they have no business being involved in.
