cry at gigs?

It's not a sadness thing - it's a moved by the music thing (or am I just being a girl?)

I sobbed when I finally got to see the wonderousness that is the Pixies live. Same thing first time I saw Frank Black.

Only happens if it's a good gig. Is this all too weird?

For me, spirituality, emotion, and music are made of the same fiber. I don't so much cry, but I often have very strong emotional/spiritual reactions to music, usually live, but sometimes recorded as well. Very noticable changes in blood pressure, throat constriction, feelings of unexplainable boundless wonder. Yeah. Alright. Unless it sucks. Then I get reeeeal mad.

I've never cried while listening to music before; it's more a spiritual experience for me, rather than emotional.

Um, thanks, Tre. Are you trying to woo me again? ;-)

Disclosure Time! I am still jealous of Ramona, who got to cry at the Morrissey show earlier this month while I got to stay home and scrub the tub after giving my little one a bath.

music = emotion
emotion = music

I consider myself lucky that I am moved to tears on a daily basis.
The only time this phenomenon went away for me was during my pregnancy. So forget the equal marks above - maybe it's all hormones and not The Sublime Wonder That Is Life.

I cried at a Yo-Yo Ma concert a few years back. No joke. That and Frank.

Blonde Redhead, Pixies, Frank Black, Joseph Arthur, Shannon Wright, The Czars... these are the gigs where little tears fell from my eyes.

I got goosebumps when I saw Pixies play, and was close to tears at one point. Music does that to me sometimes.... like today I flew down to Taipei to see a few mates, but had to leave the wife back home as she cannot get a visa to Tai Pei for political reasons. As I was on the Hong Kong - Taiwan flight Harvest Moon came on my playlist (this was the song we had played at our wedding), and made my eyes water a little with emotion.

I guess for me it depends on my moods as well.... like today I am in a shitty mood.... despite seeing my mates. As I was leaving Beijing customs decided to take away my residents cad, which means I have to stay over in Hong Kong and pay a load of money to get a new re entry visa.... what a pisser!

I got proper goosebumps at the height of July, at Tanya Donelly this summer, but I'm far too manly to cry.

I've never cried at a gig but I do get that sort of post coital empty feeling after, if you know what I mean

love like you've never been burned
work like you don't need the money
dance like there's nobody watching
kiss like your tongue is on fire
suck like you don't need the money
sin like there's nobody judging

I understand you Surfer Rosa, when I first saw Frank Black I was so excited that when I came home I cryed, but it was because I was so happy with all that...it was a dream come true!

So you have no point of reference, Donny.
You're like a child that wanders INTO THE MIDDLE OF A MOVIE!

Oh, if it is someone I love, I always cry. Music is so connected to EMOTION for me.

Movies make me cry, but it doesn't happen with music. Shivering, that's what I feel with music.
