easytree.org is tolerated no more, it seems. I checked this morning for a torrent of a concert I wanted but the lawyers had shut it down. REALLY lame. The site was a haven for serious fans of all sorts of music. Never saw an official album release (studio or concert)by anyone on the site. Only fan bootlegs. Often very rare stuff that was previously sold on eBay at exhorbitant prices or traded via snail mail.

Oh, well. Will just have to wait until the next great torrent site or underground technology dares peek its head. I wish I knew *whose* lawyers shut the site down, because I'd never buy their products again.

Go on the zombtracker ( http://zombtracker.the-zomb.com ) Jose, they seed the show you want to finish. Hope you'll get it soon.

I just open the window with Azureus Jose, it seems there is a connexion error... I'll wait a couple of hours and see if it works. Don't worry.

Ah, I should have looked at the other link. So, Dean, Dave, Brian, does anyone feel up to asking Frank?

I am aware of that condition, Adrian, that is why I included that link to the FAQ.

Now, all I have to do is start a new thread to ask how I can get in touch with FB!

Just kidding here. Please Brian, don't sh—

You can't do archive.org; they only allow artists on their "trade-friendly" list and Frank is not on there. Now, you could try to get in touch with Frank and get a statement saying it's okay to distribute his live recordings. Whether he would do that or not, I don't know. He's said before that he doesn't mind people trading his shows, so he might.

From time to time the administrators have received letters regarding material that supposedly has been copyrighted. I believe they have always responded to such complaints by removing the torrent. For instance, Gene Simmons recently bought the rights to a bunch of old filmed kiss concerts - most of which have been seeded at easytree.org lately. He is also known to be very harsh to bootleggers. It's just a speculation.

ummm i just read this at easy tree...very bad news:

April 6, 2005, 16:00 GMT

Hello gals and guys,

We're very sorry having to tell you that we had to shut down EZT just a couple of minutes ago.

We got a call from our provider, they had received a few letters from a couple of lawyers. They requested EZT to be shut down immediately, otherwise we and the hosting service would be sued.

As you may imagine, we do not have the funds to fight a battle we most probably can't win anyway.

We would like to thank everyone here for their contributions to EZT, one way or the other, for sharing the music, sharing an ideal, for all your mails, rants, praises...

To say it with Joan Armatrading:

We had fun, fun, fun, fun
fun, fun, fun, fun
we had fun -- while it lasted...
--"Tall in the Saddle"--

You all take good care!

The EZT team

It's the new torrent and don't worry with the server, it's ok. Try again and again sometimes, it's just for a moment.
Levitated Posted - 04/06/2005 : 12:21:31
Received this message: ''server too busy'' I hope it's just for a moment
Is that the 1991-06-06 show that was being seeded on easytree??
Or it's a new torrent that Martin said was going to seed today also on easytree?
number 13 Posted - 04/06/2005 : 11:41:11
If you want something : http://www.thetradersden.org/

There is a Pixies show from 1991 they played in Lyon.

Dear Holiday Son,

Yes it's free bootlegs, but whose the owner of the Pixies material? You don't own the name nor the rights on the material. It's stupid because it's not commercial but they don't care, they think you don't have the right to own a free bootleg... So they shut down Sharing the groove and now it's easytree.

Yeah but those are free bootlegs.
Nobody makes any money from it.
It's made by the fans, for the fans and artists like Frank don't mind about it.

I understand shutting down sites that link available material but this is sheer stupidness.
number 13 Posted - 04/06/2005 : 11:08:33
The Blondie show? It seemed cool... I wanted the "zoostation" from U2! I just completed in time the 1991 show in Lilles from the Pixies!
Erebus Posted - 04/06/2005 : 11:05:34
We need to know the grounds for this, but I guess the easytree folks are not at liberty to discuss it. Who sicced the lawyers on them? Why? Is it motivated by property rights, or by those who (think they) stand to gain in terms of disc sales?

I hope that '80 Blondie show I was downloading at home was completed in time.

Not the material, we are talking about bootlegs. ;). The torrents are legal but not the bootlegs.

I think it happened the same thing with the late Sharing the groove. I was lucky enough to get the last concert of the Pixies there was on easytree... (one of 1991).

Where are you heading guys? I am not just interested by the Pixies but I am also looking for Jane's Addiction shows...etc.

right click on the "rooms" window, refresh room list. after a long while (the list of rooms is usually huge) you'll be able to scroll thru to the frankblack.net room.
