im looking for a good electro-acoustic guitar like what frank plays for about £300. needs to have a good sound when played without distortion through an amp. one that sounds like any pixies songs would be great. cheeers geezers!

Whenever I see Frank with an acoustic it is always a dreadnought. That is the size of the EG-530....the Takamine site said that the EG-541 was an NEX, not really sure what size that would be. You can't go wrong with a dreadnought....that is the most popular size for an acoustic.

Check out Takamine's catalogue. As far as an aftermarket pickup goes...Frank plays shows with factory pickups on his Takamines and if it's good enough for the man then it's good enough for me.

from looking at some pics of takamine e-c you cant really tell the thickness of the body. im looking for something like frank uses, for playing live standing up. do you know how thick the guitars in the EG-530 and EG-541 series are?

Yep, get a decent acoustic first. The pickup can be bought pretty cheaply anyway.

Frank usually plays Takamine acoustics when he's out on tour. They vary in price from about $200 - $1500 (for the really nice ones). Some of them have real nice pickups.....don't know if Takamines are popular across the pond but they're all over the place in the US. Good luck.

It's the player, not the guitar anyways.

Screw the electronics, if necessary get an internal mic at a later time.

The rule of thumb with those guitars is they are not built to play acoustically, so they don't need to sound good. And they don't, they take a piece of the body off and put in a plastic panel.
