"Honeycomb" sounds very pretty on the piano.

Isn't that something?

Yeah - Many guitarist on this site. I imagine we all various degrees of butchery on the man's music. His progressions are magic for the soul.

I have been learning guitar for 4 years, and CANNOT STOP playing Frank Black music. I even went out and bought a California Blonde II to get that sound. I daisy chain a Fender Acoustosonic with a little delay, put it across the room, and CRANK it UP:
Velouria
Freedom Rock
Calistan
Old Black Dawning
Caribou
Holiday
Ed is Dead
Ana
85 Weeks
St Francis Dam Disaster
California Bound
I Burn Today
Sing for Joy
Horrible Day
Massif Centrale
Velvety
Dog in the Sand
Man of Steel
Bullet
Demon Girl
Don't Get me Wrong
Dead Man's Curve
Cactus

Another motivator - His album last year with DVD Christmass. Such a great sound. My wife does not like Frank's music, but when I strum the melodies, she finds herself humming it without knowing where it came from. I need someone to play these songs with! Most of my neighbors play cover band crap...HELP!!!!! Anyone out there in Tacoma/Olympia WA Area?

All My Ghosts and Back To Rome. Turn down your right speaker, play along, and it's like your Lyle! I love playing the solos to both of these!

Yeah, it's a tricky riff. Very fulfilling when you nail it, though.

Nice thread.. Other than Remig, not too many mentions of Nashville era stuff. My favorite right now is DOWN TO YOU. I think it's mostly because it's in my vocal range.

Past favorites include Western Star, I've seen your picture, Humbolt, Marsist, Cold heart of stone, and many others.

Anyone for knob Marmite?
fbc Posted - 09/30/2007 : 12:28:26
if you're using the chords from the tab section, the tuning's slightly wrong. i remember Derek Cereal posting an update with D-tuning. This thread here is pretty much bang on (except you don't have to d-tune the high E string, just the low fat ass one!)

you think it's sinister now, wait until you d-tune. and crank it out, floop. shit those neighbours up.
floop Posted - 09/30/2007 : 11:24:53
i'm just learning Ten Percenter. i love playing the intro. it's so sinister sounding (i think i scared the neighbors)
jamblack Posted - 09/22/2007 : 17:46:57
Damn! I enjoy trying to play all of them. I just wish I could follow his strum patterns. Frank Black is a master.
mr.biscuitdoughhead Posted - 09/22/2007 : 08:35:20
most fb songs are wayyyyyyy too complicated for me too waste my time trying to figure out. i can play a couple of pixies songs in the piano tho-- wimm?, in heaven, debaser, etc.

I marvel at how many people on this forum play an instrument. I'm guessing most of us are just goofing around, but it's still impressive. If ever the world needed a 200-piece band, this would be the group to do it. 197 guitars and 3 pianos, as far as I've been able to determine.

Please pardon me, for these my wrongs.
floop Posted - 09/21/2007 : 19:35:30
i been trying to learn The Man Who Was Too Loud but it doesn't sound as good on an acoustic. nonetheless, it does kick ass. as i do.

not really, i kind of suck at guitar

I also have to learn This Old Heartache, as soon as I can find that sheet music again...

Just a few errors in the tab, i noticed today.

Goodbye Lorraine

"She said if we'll be withces Then there must be nakedness I said you have no hear until that aching fills your chest"

-it's spelled as witches
-"I said you have no heart"

Manitoba

verse one
"[G]And nights were never [Em7]colder Once I heard a wailing sound The sky had turned to red"
-"[G]And nights were getting [Em7]colder And when I heard the sound They saw the sky turn red"

verse two
"The darkness came right down on me
There were no more lights to follow
So I slept inside the hollow
Of a dead and fallen tree

Did you know three days I tried
To wake myself? But, no
My flesh had turned to snow
And i thought that I had died"

-The darkness came I couldn’t see
I hade no light to follow
I slept inside the hollow
Of a dead and fallen tree

I tell you how three days I tried
To wake me up, all but, no
My flesh had turned to snow
And i thought that I had died
