Can Anyone Tab out this song - I've tried, but it's too cool and I end up just listening to it.

HUGE BUMP

Derek, did you get this figured out? I've played around with it a few times and still can't get it. I work it capo'd at the 5th. But I think he utilizes an alternate tuning.

Oh, and the line near the end, considering the context, is:

"Don't cry, come day we'll be leaving (as in, it is night and we leave at day break)
Don't cry, tomorrow we're leaving"

oh, I think it's San Fran, as in San Francisco, not St. Fran.

Here is my take, I used these 2 to fill in some gaps in mine. Bolded are the main differences.

I finally got my turn down at St. Elizabeths
The moment I left my heart started to yearn
She said lets get going and we boarded a train
And rode out of that rain
On the long way home

In Nebraskas pan handle we shouted and we cried
The unidentified left our brains in a scramble
To the sea and the foam of St. Fran we did burn
Into the seting sun
On the long way home

I woke up in the canyons above the lagoons
A trumpeted tune echoed there was my fun
Though I was still not grown I knew it was almost time
To find another past-time
On the Long way home

So I packed up my gun and I got on a plane
A million roads far below me like veins
One capliary led to a Drama? I know
He played the cocktail lounge
On the long way home

We're going back to New England cause we're living on the run
Now we're going to California to make us some mon'
Maybe one day we'll make Omaha our home
But for now the great planes
Forever will roam

Well for 35 years I've been making the trip
Sometimes I got slow and sometimes I go quick
now mostly I'm straight but theres times I was stoned
A-Burning that joint
On the long way home

There's times I go East and there's times I go West
I don't know which is best I can never be pleased
Someday I go down the Pan-American highway
It was a promise we made
To go all the way South

Don't cry
Don't ever believe in?
Don't cry
Tomorrow were leaving
We'll drive
On the Pan-American highway
Long haul all the way to Argentina
So far from home

excellent! amazing song. thanks for tabbing it! I've been busy tabbing Nirvana songs that other people have butchered. They think that during the verses of Breed that you play:

e|-----------------------------|-----|-----|-------------------------|
B|-----------------------------|-----|-----|-------------------------|
G|-----------------------------|-----|-----|-------------------------|
D|---11-11-11-11--11-11-11-11--|--%--|--%--|--11-11-11---------------|
A|---9--9--9--9---9--9--9--9---|-----|-----|--9--9--9--9-Bend--9-7---|
E|-----------------------------|-----|-----|-------------------------|

When it is so obvious that it is:

e|---6-6-6-6---6-6-6-6---------|-----|-----|---6-6-6-6---------------|
B|---7-7-7-7---7-7-7-7---------|-----|-----|---7-7-7-7---------------|
G|---6-6-6-6---6-6-6-6---------|-----|-----|---6-6-6-6---5-----------|
D|-----------------------------|--%--|--%--|-------------------------|
A|-----------------------------|-----|-----|-------------------------|
E|-----------------------------|-----|-----|-------------------------|

EDIT: poo on the forum for making it look ugly and unorganized :(

Funny, it sounds like "Top Ten Lounge" to my feeble ears.
edit: my ears are fickle, now it's "Cop Ten". sheesh!

I think it's cocktail. He's just not very clear. It's sounds sorta like "cod tel" to me.

Same here, LBF. It is close to cocktail lounge, but I don't hear it.

Other things it definitely is not:

"He played the god damn lounge"

"He played the cock ten lounge" is very interesting. Or would it be Cock Ten Lounge? Sounds like a naked bar.

this should clear up some ambiguity:

To the sea & the foam of St. Fran

He played the cocktail lounge

Don't cry, some day we'll be leaving [i guess it could also be "Sunday"]
ProverbialCereal Posted - 02/17/2004 : 20:30:46
I thought "someday"... that's what I always sung. But I'm not sure if that's what it is. I also wondered about "Sunday." Then I thought that ____?____ sounded the best

Do you think that "someday" or "Sunday" could appropriately fill in those blanks? I don't know about Cock Ten Lounge; that's a hard one.

I always thought he said "I'm a long way home"
not "On the long way home"

Damn.
