I am new to reading nontab guitar and was reading a book talking about playing line and space notes. I understand where the notes are on the sheet music but I have no idea how the heck these notes are played on the guitar. Can anyone explain this or recommend a webpage that explains how to play these notes?

Every fret is a semi-tone.

All I knew before this was the name of the strings. So I don't know the names of the notes on the fretboard, and from what you wrote I think I can find every note except for the f notes.

Do you know the names of the notes on the
fretboard? There is a very good exercise
for this IF you practice it daily.

Standard guitar notation has the C, the third
space (FACE) as the first fret of the second
string.

The lines are Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge.
The spaces are FACE.

High E is the top space.
B is the 3rd line.
G is the 2nd line
D is the first space below the staff
A is two lines below the staff
Low E is the space below the third line below
the staff.

[All of these notes are actually an octave
from what is written.]
