oh yeah the washburn was cool! my favorite pixies dvd is him using that one, he breaks the strings like 3 times in the show

He used a beat up blue Washburn in early Pixies days.

He had a couple of Takamines in the latter Catholics days, and on the Pixies tours, both of which had a hole worn through where the pickguard should have been.

There are, however, a couple of threads at least on this subject, which might go into more depth.
