Does anyone know whether Frank use a light, medium or heavy pick when he plays acoustic? Thanks.

Hey Mr. Woe, was it identical to the pick identified by Speedy M? An orange Dunlop .60?

I've done the same, but I'm not taking lessons from any teacher. Whenever I used my heavy pick to play Frank Black, I would break all of my strings. I would have to change at least 1 string every weak.

I was so new to guitar that I didn't know there were different thickness. I only recently switched to a light pick in mid summer.

Thanks gang. I've taught myself how to play guitar by utilizing the tabs on this site and a rock guitar chord book. I've started taking lessons and the teacher is encouraging me to use a thick dog-eared pick. It seems ok for bluegrass pick/strum patterns but not for playing FB material. Especially on the quick strums FB does while playing accoustic.

A special thanks to all of you who've contributed to the tab site. Its really opened up the world of music for me.

I snagged one of Frank's after a show (not the one pictured). Ziggy is correct.

I think he uses the .60 thickness picks. Orange dunlop tortex.

I read somewhere Joey played a metal pick when the Pixies recorded Surfer Rosa. Sorry I know that doesn't really help you much, perhaps he has the Pick of Destiny (PoD)?
