Please let me know if you have any suggestions or ideas for making this easier to read.

Highlights of the book

1) Chords are in a reddish-brown color to make them standout

2) Printer friendly. Each tab starts on new page. Tabs that are more than one page bleed over without separating chords from words. Print one-sided or double sided. To print double-sided, print all Odd numbered pages first, then insert Odd pages upside down and print Evens.

3) Top of tabs only have song title and track number (not cluttered with who tabbed it, etc.)

4) Different font and color used for where to jump to next (i.e. - "Honeycomb")

i'm pretty sure I finished it. i'll have to find the file because I think it's on my PC somewhere.

I actually don't remember if we did ever get a final version done and sorted, but it deserves one, Derek did a lot of great work on it.

I think it got put off for a few years so that the forum song could be finished. Whatever happened with that, too?

Probably just very busy.

Whatever happened with this? I thought it was a great idea, but I don't think the finished tab book is actually available at fb.net. Plus it's kind of sad that the only book done is for Honeycomb.

Cool, I'm tickled pink to make a contribution! :) It looks good by the way.

Yep, that's exactly what I had in mind, very nice. Just shoot me a note when you're all done.

I'm going through some final adjustments and tweaking little details. Then it shall be done and I'll work on the next tab book (probably Dog in the Sand).

Dean, are these appropriate credits to put on the final page of the book? I was also wondering if I should add anything about it being unofficial and an interpretation to the best of the tabber's ability. Then again I think that's what most tab books are, but I imagine some get the musician's approval at least.

Yes, Derek, it's wonderful. Really nice to see the project coming to fruition.

Very Nice, PC.

Here is something I just did tonight. Let me know if you have any suggestions. It's simple and basically just the album cover, but I think most tab books are just the album cover. And of course it's a compressed jpg.

ProverbialCereal Posted - 09/07/2006 : 20:34:17
I'm making a cover now. Should I call this:

Guitar Tab Book

Guitar Chord Book

Gutiar Tablature Book

Chord book

Or something else?

I can't tell if you're joking, but yeah... having the original composer is probably important legally.

We can probably refer to the disco for all the other goodness - this way you won't have to update it.

I don't think we should cater for uneducated people. If someone wants to know who wrote a certain cover then they should indeed see the linear notes.
ProverbialCereal Posted - 09/04/2006 : 06:10:07
I could add the composer of the song directly beneath the song title. I got lazy and put "see liner notes."

And we'll put a link on the tab page as soon as it is finished. Obi Dean Kenobi said put a cover on it first.
vilainde Posted - 09/04/2006 : 02:52:04
* Shouldn't this deserve 1) a link in the tabs page, and 2) a blurb in the news section?
* Does the tab book need some sort of approbation from FB or Ken? I believe they don't mind since the tabs are already on the site.
* Re: Dean's comment on the discopedia stuff, I think at least the name of the composers should appear somewhere, since the album has 3 covers.

Including me. It was sort of meant to be a bad joke.

I must just say that I like this book better than I liked mr.biscuit's joke, and I think you all do too.

Yes, very nice Derek! Get yourself a cover done and I'll throw it on the site. Looks good!

Part of me wonders if it would be cool to include some Discopedia info in there, too. I'm just not sure how that would work without disrupting the flow - unless you had a little bit on the left side of the book with the tab starting on the right somehow. Probably not worth the trouble, though. Anyway, you steam a good ham...

Yeah I might work up a cover in In Design or Illustrator or something. I did all that in Word, and Word is not the best program to make a fancy cover in.

I believe you can pick up a binder for $1.99 at Staples or Office Max. Not sure what the equivalent is in the UK.
vilainde Posted - 09/03/2006 : 08:50:27
awesome Derek, though I think there should be a fancier book cover, you know, to make it look nice and all. But still, excellent work.

Bravo, Proverbial.

So do we get the free folder (binder?) with next months book?
