Posted - 07/07/2006 : 21:15:02 Once I finish compiling all the tabs for FM/RM, what would you all think of a nice little tab book for this album?
I figure I'd organize them all as a word document in Microsoft Word so I could make it look pretty and have different fonts for different things. The tabs would stay in courier though for obvious reasons. I'd also try to make it printer friendly.
Let me know what you guys think. I might do one for Honeycomb right now as an example. |

Posted - 07/08/2006 : 11:02:56 I was experimenting with red/orange colors instead of blue actually. Thanks for the feedback. Any other suggestions are welcome too. I'm trying to make them as easy to read as possible. I'm making the [CHORUS] [VERSE] headers italicized, and indenting choruses more than the verses and bridges, or whatever else.
Once I finish FM/RM and Honeycomb, I'll probably start from Frank Black album #1 and work toward Show Me Your Tears. While doing that I'll check every tab for errors, because some of those I tabbed over 5 years ago! I haven't looked at some of them in years. |

Posted - 07/08/2006 : 10:26:14 This reminds me of the time I made a FB tab document. A while ago when I only had the internet on one computer, I pasted all your tabs into Word and put them on a floppy disc for use with the offline pc I had in my room. Took ages. |

Posted - 07/08/2006 : 10:22:10 The chord names in a different colour would be great, but try a more subtle colour like brown/red instead of blue. Ultimate guitar's is too electric and makes me squint after an afternoon beer in the sun.
(thanks for doing this, too. it will be a great addition to the records) |

Posted - 07/08/2006 : 09:02:34 I started working on the Honeycomb tablature book last night. I figure it's going to be best for printing out, because in Word all those "grammar" corrections come up and there are many green and red swiggly lines under the words and chords. Does anyone know how to turn that preference off relative to the document? I couldn't figure out how to turn it off at all.
Anyway, since this will be for you guys, some questions:
1) Would you want me to change the chord names to a different color? I noticed ultimate-guitar.com (the ones who steal FB.net tabs) put the chords in a blue color.
Not sure what other questions I have right now. I'm using a 12 pt courier new for the tabs. I center the title of the song at the start of a brand new page, in 16 pt Verdana Bold. It will be print-ready, so there won't be a lyric with the chords accidentally on the previous page. Also the actual tabs won't be cluttered with who tabbed it, since that will all be on page 1 in the Table of Contents. |
