Any recommendations? I really need to get my hands on something to give my demos some more life to them. I'm not looking for anything fancy, just something that i can have some fun with and get a decent sound out of that will allow me to give drummers i work with some guidelines.

I´ve listened to some demos, they´re not bad but not my style.

However, the drum machines that come with Reaktor (http://www.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=reaktor5_us&ftu=1422be9845) , or it´s user library, may be mindboggling - if you´re into more electronic sounds. However, with a little tweaking they may be suitable for most genres. Anyway, get Reaktor and also get the best, ultimate, synths - the only one you need in fact. It is also a fantastic effect-machine. Ave reaktor, ave!

Finally: never forget FL studio. It is very easy to lay down beats in this little gem of a cheapo sequencer. Éxtremely user friendly. Fuck reason, get FL.

...also anticipating an answer.(aaaa)

I've installed a lot of different drum programs, but nothing compares with the ease and enjoyment of an actual portable drum machine. I just like pressing buttons in loops.

Any software where you can actually press keys on the keyboard to create instant sound?
