Posted - 08/09/2005 : 01:27:34 I'm really lame when it comes to tuning... too lazy to train my hear and I always used a cheap electronic tuner.
I'm thinking of upgrading to a proper tuner but I would need one which allows to find easily the main alternate tunings. Any suggestions? |

Black Sabbath have tuned down to C, and I believe Nirvana's Polly and Something In The Way are recorded like that on an acoustic. And Carcass tuned down to B! Some soundgarden songs use tunings with the low E tuned down to B.

Posted - 12/11/2005 : 17:18:58 for a tuner you need a Boss TU-2 looks like a boss pedal mutes when you turnit on to tune, powers your other pdeals, and can be seen clearly while on dark stages. this is a great tool!! I hate korg tuners, weird, jumpy slow display, the rack mount one is O.k. i guess, looks neat in your rack but thats about it.

Posted - 09/18/2005 : 16:27:07 You don't have to buy a chromatic tuner if you take advantage of the flat option on your cheap tuner. Allow me to demonstrate: For the low E string: C=Ebbbb Db=Ebbb D=Ebb Eb=Eb E=E F=Abbbb Gb=Abbb G=Abb Ab=Ab A=A Bb=Dbbbb B=Dbbb
Amd so on for the other strings. You can get any note you desire doing it like this, as long as it's not lower than a low C, in which case the string would be so loose as to be practically unplayable.

Posted - 08/09/2005 : 02:37:50 You'll need a "chromatic" tuner for the whole 12 note selection for alternate tunings, unless you want every string to either be E, A, D, G, B, or E..
Korg make great, reliable tuners. I use the DT10 pedal tuner for me pedalboard.
