Wondered if anyone here has used any of the Roland Cube amps for guitar. I'm looking into either the Cube 30 or Cube 60. I'm married with 2 kids, just moved, and just need a small amp that sounds good. I have a large Crate amp, but I think my wife will kill me if I set that up anywhere around the new house. In addition to sound and tone quality, curious about the different amp and effect options that these amps have.

The first amp I bought when I was just starting to play guitar was one of the very small Roland Cube 15 (or 10 maybe I can't remember) amps. It was indeed very small and didn't get very loud, but it wasn't a bad amp, the distortion channel actually sounded quite good and the clean wasn't bad. If you're just starting or not looking to gig with it or anything then I would recommend it, it's a nice little amp for just playing around the house.

The 15watt Orange Crush amp is wicked. Nice reverb function too.

I considered getting a Cube until I discovered the Orange Crush CR line, which are really nice little solid-state amps, and not too pricey despite the 'Orange' logo... Sounds great overdriven (two gain pots, to go from light crunch to sick distortion), the clean is a bit weak (I have the 10w watts version with a 6' speaker).

I usually find the reviews at Harmony Central useful:

Happy gear hunting!
