yeah, its kinda tricky cause not only is it a muddy chord to begin with, but you also got kims note somewhere in the mix
i took the chord for a spin through the car wash. no mud on it's flaps no more. joey's chord is:
e--x-- b--6-- g--5-- d--4-- a--5-- e--x--

Posted - 04/10/2005 : 12:55:32 I saw it transcribed in Total Guitar this way, as frank black conspiracy has it, so I used to play it like this;
G7sus4
E--1-- B--1-- G--0-- D--0-- A--3-- E--3--
Though that sounds real nice, I think Doog's second one is closer, which is how Guitar World transcribed it, except the the open low E is not picked;
E--X-- B--6-- G--5-- D--0-- A--0-- E--X--

Posted - 02/26/2005 : 17:00:54 Yeah, I think you're right. My perfect-pitch son tells me it's this (only one difference from one of Doog's):

Posted - 02/26/2005 : 04:01:35 i don't think it's a 'G' chord, like BLT said |

Posted - 02/25/2005 : 08:11:24 There's at least 2 guitars playing that opening strum, and I think they're playing slightly different chords. The acoustic sounds like a chord, one of the overdrive guitars on the right sounds like just open strings. I'm pretty sure either of these two will get you close enough.
e---1-----1----- B---1-----1----- G---0-----2----- D---0-----0----- A---0-----0----- E---0-----0-----
edit: Actually, I think I've got it!
e--x-- B--6-- G--5-- D--0-- A--0-- E--0--
I remember FB playing the D's as a barre on the A string, so this makes sense. There's a couple of clashing notes, I think thats what makes it so hard to figure out.

Posted - 02/13/2005 : 17:03:51 it's definately a variation of D.
Number 13 has it sounding nice, similar to my 2nd chord up top, but I add the D root note on the A string to give it a little more beef. listening to the live recordings it sound more a barre chord than an open ringing out (hence the extra finger on the fret board).
e---x---
b---6---
g---5---
d---0---
a---5---
e---x---
It's so similar to HDN but that opening chord is just too 'pretty' major sounding. The Pixies version is a little dirtier (sorry, best way i could describe it).
(why do I have the feeling it's still wrong?) |

Posted - 02/13/2005 : 15:17:37 I said don't get me started... I've got three or four that work just as well:
You're usually looking at a root of G, with a seventh and a sus4 in there. Alternative cobinations include 303213 (as apparently shown to Gary Moore by George Harrison), or even 553533, which may sound out at first - try letting it ring and check out the sympathetic harmonic.
Good grief. I'm plagiarising my own thesis.

Posted - 02/13/2005 : 15:00:26 I think it's a D, not a G. Out of the options listed here, I think number 13's is closest.

I don't think it was a strum but a hit on the guitar body (maybe neck?).
See FBC's suggestion. Maybe ask Cheeseman1000 to elaborate further, heh

Howdy. I'm pretty sure its FBC's first choice, 330011, a G7sus4. That's the nearest I've found to it, and I know one or two guitar magazine transcribers who'll agree with me.

Posted - 02/07/2005 : 15:22:36 You can play the D chord like this : A and D strings open, with C at the fifth case on the G string and F at the Sixth case on the B string. It sounds right to me. Or simply a D chord at the fifth case... |

b---1-----6---

but i'm yet to find the right one, i think. i've heard several different chords on several different tracks so i'm none the wiser than above. |
