I'm seriously considering this guitar, the humbucker in particular is a plus. There's also a deluxe version with two humbuckers.
I've played it, and love it. My knowledge of guitars, however, isn't exactly fantastic, and I'm wondering whether this is a sound investment.
Any advice?
Am also looking at a Vox combo amp, priced at about £400. A good idea? |

I met a guitarist from the Futureheads at a gig on the weekend, and he was playing the 72 reissue. Said he doesn't use the humbucker though cos the tone is too deep and blues-like. LOL. And Franz Ferdinand's singer plays an original 72 model. |

Thanks for the advice, everyone.
I notice the Tele that Charles played at the start of the tour just had a single bridge pickup, but he seems to have moved onto one with a neck humbucker too. |

Yeah, Zig - thats a cool axe.
I play a standard tele, but having that humbucker up front is way cool.
I use an Ampeg Superjet with mine.
The Fender Hotrod might be a better amp for it, what with the pregain stage and all.
Check out a Fender Blues Junior too. 15 watts, but oh what a sound.

I've tried both and I hate to say it but I give it to the "fat Tele". It's got a neck humbucker but a standard tele on bridge. Andy Summers played one for years. They really have some nice range and punch.

I see, it looks like an awesome amp. Still, it's about £100 more than the Vox amp. I suppose I shall just have to try them out.
I certainly agree with what you say about the Line 6 amp, too. |

Well, I tried out quite a few solid state amps and one or two amp modelling amps (line 6 etc.), but with the latter, I was just setting it to emulate a valve amp, so I just went out bought a real one. The one I ended up getting was the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 40 watt valve. I think it's a wonderful amp. Try one out, I'm sure you'll like it. Word of warning though, they are remarkably loud!!

Yep, it's exactly that model.
What amp do you use, Hatchetman? I'm still undecided on what to buy... and the whole valve vs solid state issue... |

Is it a Made in Mexico Re-issue 72 Tele custom? If it is, I have one and I can honestly say that it is one of the nicest guitars that I've played! I had really good set up done on it and I have never had any problems with it. It has a wide range humbucker in the neck position as well as a single coil in the bridge. The tone is IMHO unsurpassed.
