It's a beautiful song. One of my favorites in a while. I made an MP3 of it from this post.
I don't mean to sound negative, but I would really love a song like this to be done in a different way or for a different project and not by the Pixies on a new album. |

Ding has played with PJ Harvey, The Fall and Pixies. Not bad. Briefly spoke to him during the Bluefinger tour and he seemed like a very nice guy. |

Simon "Ding" Archer is a bass player and, more recently, producer, with a studio in Manchester. He played with Charles when he was touring the Bluefinger album. |

Looks like Charles recorded with Ding Archer in late May, according to Ding Archer's instagram page. Hopefully this means we're one step closer to hearing some studio versions of these songs.

With Lyle Workman, EDF and Nick Vincent back for the TOTY 30th Tour, I can certainly see them joining a Catholics record.
They all worked together on different Catholics albums.
What a great time that was!

I finally perused some of these songs, thanks for the links. "Misbelief" and others sound like they'd make great Catholic tunes. While I'm not one for reunions, these tunes have me reversing my stance. And while Dave Phillips is gone, God rest his soul, I can picture Rich Gilbert, Scott Boutier, Dave McCaffery bringing their unique frisson to these songs for a new Catholics album.
Probably shouldn't say "never" but it seems unlikely though.

I usually don't listen to demos since the huge disappointment over the Dead man's curve album version.
I made an exception for this bunch (though I haven't listened to them all yet.) I don't regret it. |

Am I the only one regularly checking Frank Black's social media to see if these videos will start up again now that Pixies are back on tour in Europe? Or if something solo/Catholics-oriented ended up being recorded over the past few weeks, hopefully we'll hear something soon. |

Yeah agree with this. Just want to add that Jeremy Dubs is an awesome dude, check out his movie Tallywacker along with his music with his band Bunnies. You will not be disappointed.

A friend says he thought my lyrical guess of "A lion in the shadow of a tree" might be "lying in the shadow of a tree", but to my ears, it sounds like "a lion"...of course the other one makes more sense, but my version feels more like a Frank lyric. |
