Posted - 01/05/2021 : 02:01:55 This is on Spotify now, just listened nice classic 60's style rock!
Also the PF Sloan album he appeared on in 06 produced by Tiven - never heard these before, what a nice surprise to start the year.

Posted - 08/09/2018 : 02:10:14 I agree. It was awkward. There were silly things from both sides. It was interesting to read, but not necessarily in a very fun way.
Artists are incredibly invested in what they do. It has been a while, but if i remember correctly Tiven came on the site before Honeycomb came out and when there was backlash to the sound was when things got ugly. And I don't think it really started that way, but he took great umbrage to some of the negativity.
It is always very cool to have someone with insider knowledge share it with this fan-based community. And not just a post or two, he was fully engaged.

Posted - 08/08/2018 : 15:44:47 I remember those threads well, moonruler. In retrospect, I think Jon Tiven took great pride in his work and simply wanted to provide a behind-the-scenes perspective on the work he was producing. I never really understood the animosity. The fact that a producer was willing to drop in and share some information on what was going on made this forum an exciting place to be. I doubt we'll ever see something like that happen again. -Oddball |

Posted - 08/08/2018 : 14:23:12 I just read an old review on pitchfork (I know) where they pan Tiven’s production on Fast Man Raider Man. Halfway decent review from a non-fan, although the score is a bit low, and there is, of course, some snarkiness.
And if you did not read them, oddball, those threads were some flame wars. JT deleted all of his comments and replaced them with “bye.”
There was definitely some backlash to how these albums sounded, but I do think there are some excellent songs on both Honeycomb & Fast Man Raider Man.

Posted - 08/08/2018 : 14:02:40 Agreed, moonruler. I found myself hoping that FB might have worked with Jon Tiven in some capacity while the Pixies toured in Nashville a while back. One can always hope. -Oddball |

Posted - 08/08/2018 : 09:57:20 I just want Jon Tiven to return to the forum. That was a lot of fun to read for someone who is mostly a Blurker on this site.
Both Nashville albums have some remarkable gems on them, though. Selkie Bride, Sing for Joy, Fastman, Dog Sleep, My Terrible Ways. Plus, many more!!!

Posted - 06/06/2018 : 08:52:28 Thanks for sharing this link, Stevio10. I'm probably in the minority, but I would love to see another Jon Tiven-produced Frank Black album out of Nashville! I miss having something to look forward to each year from Frank Black.
