quote:
This fall, American Laundromat Records will celebrate the soundtrack to the 1984 cult classic “Repo Man” with a track-by-track tribute, featuring the likes of Black Francis, Mike Watt, Matthew Sweet and Amanda Palmer and more covering songs originally recorded by Iggy Pop, Black Flag, Circle Jerks and Suicidal Tendencies.

The album is due out Sept. 18, also also features The Plugz, Polar Bear Club and New York Rivals. The label is offering a special pre-order bundle featuring a six-panel CD wallet featuring original artwork by rock poster designer Lonny Unitus, a bonus promo pin, an album preview prior to release date and, while supplies last, an “official Little Trees’ royal pine tree-shaped air freshener which were featured in the film — ’you find one in every car… you’ll see.’”

Finally bought this. As shiney said it can't compare to the original but it's still loads of fun. Not a fan of Coup d'Etat and Pablo Picasso but the other ones did great. The best of all is probably Amanda Palmer's "Institutionalized", totally nuts.

i bought the pre-order with the glow in the dark shirt, air freshener, and 2 buttons and of course the cd.

it looks better on paper than in actuality. most songs i prefer the original soundtrack ones. exceptions would probably be the BF song, the matthew sweet song, and the Mike watt song (but prolly only cause i like mike watt)

The waxworks were an immensely eloquent dissertation on the wonderful ordinariness of mankind.

Anyone get their hands on this? Amazon won't let me buy the track. iTunes has an extended one minute and 30 seconds preview but it too won't let me buy the individual track.
