Pixies legend
donates to help
save club

THE historic 100 Club has received a massive
boost from music legend FRANK BLACK.

Heroic Frank - lead singer of American rockers THE PIXIES
- donated £100,000 in a bid to rescue the threatened venue
in London's Oxford Street.

And in keeping with his top-man status, he asked for his
gesture to the Save The 100 Club campaign to stay
anonymous. Legend.

Top gesture ... Frank Black

Whoops... if FB has indeed confirmed this as untrue, apologies all round... wow, must be the first time The Sun have reported bullshit! ;)

Contactmusic.com - Mick Jagger - 100 Club Saved

London's legendary 100 Club has been saved from closure following a star-studded campaign by music legends including SIR MICK JAGGER and SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY.

The popular venue, situated on Oxford Street, came under threat last year (10) amid soaring rents in central London, and a number of famous faces stepped forward in a bid to rescue the club.

Both Jagger and his Rolling Stones bandmate Ronnie Wood have helped the campaign, along with Pixies rocker Frank Black, former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher and MCCartney, who played a show there in December (10).

The campaign has now proved a success - bosses at shoe company Converse have come forward to save the 100 Club.

A statement from the company reads, "We at Converse are very excited about our new partnership with the legendary 100 Club in London

It's a lucrative business, you give them money so they can make money again?

Ahem. The 100 Club is so lucrative that it's due to close at the end of the year because of continuing financial losses.

Publicity stunt? Could The Sun have been "tipped off" by 100 Club campaigners?

Of course, but I was speaking about the music business in general.
It's not precisely a non profit organization, so I'm surprised a commercial organization asks for donations.

Yeah, if it was 1000 pounds, maybe, but 100.000 it's just a joke.

Judging from FBF's comments on twitter, this is untrue. usual bullsh*t from the well known and not very well respected rag that is The Sun.

FBF's comment was that tabloids jounalists rarley check facts - paraphrased.

I just cant believe that.
Why would he do that?
He's not even brit.
On the other hand I know he's involved in the concert halls business with his brother, somewhere on the east coast.

Clearly Charles is, as "THE SUN SAYS", a top-man, a legend.

Rick G, who made the following comment on the Sun story, is clearly a top-funny guy.
"fumin! i clicked on this story thinking it was about Pixie Lott not these utter ****."
