I am pretty sure Charles is on Six music this Sunday at 12:00 noon UK time.

They have been running an advert for a program called "The first time with..." and snippets of the advert have the man talking about early Pixies.

However, the 6 Music website doesn't specify *who* the artist is going to be, but since the man is the only one on the advert it is pretty likely to be him.

Apologies if he doesn't end up being on it, but figured was best to put it out there anyway.

is pure genius. even without listening any of his music, by tracking his mind-set, you can tell that a creative power of this caliber arises once a 100 maybe 200 years.

For me, it says:
"The First Time With...: Frank Black is unavailable at this time."
Is it only available from UK?
Can anybody help?
regards, Florian

Hi Florian, some BBC links do not work overseas, but in this case it might be worth trying again - it is clear that some are able to access it from outside the UK. I think you should be able to download a shorter version though via the link to the podcast:

that's a great quote...reminds me of the interview he did with Lil' Ratso

Lil' Ratso: Do yo write your own songs?
FB: Yes, I write my own songs.

Lil' Ratso: Is it hard to write songs?
FB: It's fun to write songs.

Lil' Ratso: How do you do it?
FB: ah..you just do it! There is no way to do it. You just make up a song..you just make up some words and make up some notes and put them all together. Anyone can do it.

"This is a song about THIS...it's just a made up rule. There are no rules [in song writing]...if you listen to a child sing or a child speak, they're not concerned with these things...therein are the rules - in the primal area, not in the cerebral area." - Black Francis [about song writing].

:)!

Yeah, there's so much I'd love to hear the man chat about. I have a short video of Frank at the '95 Americana Music Convention where he discusses the music industry. He talks well. I like his opinions and frankness. I'd actually love to compile his biography. Just to be able to delve into and explore everything Charles Thompson would be a labour of love.

I was pleasantly surprised when Everitt shifted the conversation to Black's solo work.

Joe Kidd. I wish that Matt Everitt had asked more questions about everything really, but the Catholics era in particular.

Frank Black and the Pixies.

I've just listened to this. Nice choice of songs played. NonStopErotik being plugged as the new album. I feel slightly bad I've played it already and am eager for the next one. Nowadays I move on too quickly. What an impatient fan I am.

Who was the drummer that replaced Scott for the tour?

I googled 'matt everitt black francis'.
Came across this: http://www.bulldogradio.org/jocks.htm
Check out the DJ 4th from bottom of the list.

Oh! Could somebody capture this little chat for me, please?
