they were prescription sunglasses, plus they had the lights extra bright as gig was filmed. he made them turn them down about 3/4 of the way in coz they were also HOT... didn't wear them in nijmegan which was a punkier, friendlier vibe.
raasclaat Posted - 07/28/2007 : 11:37:14
you can see me in the front row at the start! ..yellow shirt ;)

yeah I prefer it too when he's without his sunglasses

I love to see his eyes

Does anyone else have this camera switching every 3 seconds ? It is impossible de watch Frank Black correctly.

It's very annoying...

And how can I remove the black glasses from the singer...

It did that for me a bit on the first song, but then it smoothed out. There were maybe two hiccups the rest of the show.

When it was live, the stops were awful.

Please pardon me, for these my wrongs.

I think it's a bloody good recording. I like the mix, lots of headroom in it, yet really rocking and tight.

Wasn't expecting the acoustic songs to be on it either, which was a plus.
morgan Posted - 07/25/2007 : 11:44:29
I missed this on July 4th. This is AWESOME! How can I get a DVD of this? I can't wait for him to tour around here with these guys.

You can also embed the entire footage into your website/myspace with the following embed code: <embed src="http://www.fabchannel.com/embed/player.swf?ap=artist.frank_black" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="400" height="346" allowFullScreen="true"></embed>

Well Joey, i'm afraid i would have to disagree with you there. I was there for this and it is captured beautifully. The sound is pitch perfect and the camera work is quite good.
The fabchannel guys are to be commended for putting this up, doing such a great job and best of all making it free to stream.
Also to all the people complaining about Franks behaviour in the behaviour thread, the FB you all know and love so well is there to be seen for the acoustic session at the start. The punky herman brrod manifestation is the guy you see in the electric set.

Long live Frank Black Francis

Whaddya want for nothin', Joey? Sheesh. Not only did they show it live, but now it's available -- for free -- forever. The sound quality is great, the images are clear, the lighting is good. And it's FRANK BLACK.

Please pardon me, for these my wrongs.
Joey Joe Jo Jr. Chabadoo Posted - 07/25/2007 : 03:08:28
... The edition is unbearable. You can hardly watch it. They switch from a camera to another every 2 seconds... pff... Dirty trendy work...
This is not a live experience.

Most of all the sound is to clean to be Frank....

This concert is not from a fan point of view and it does not show the reality of a Frank Black performance.

I am very disapointed...

Anybody know how to turn up the volume? When I click the volume button, it acts as a mute button.

Please pardon me, for these my wrongs.

Good job, it sounds good!

Paradiso is the best venue in the Netherlands in my opinion. Great programme as well, wish I lived closer.
cptnpasty Posted - 07/05/2007 : 01:31:55
i saw throwing muses there in 96 or 97

All major stars or bands except the Beatles and the Pixies have played at the Paradiso, here what I found doing a quick search:

Rolling stones, White stripes, Queens of the stone age, Justin Timberlake, Nirvana, Foo fighters, Shins, New order, Breeders, Interpol, Buzzcocks, Silverchair, Le Tigre, Madness, Depeche mode, Robbie Williams, Nine inch nails, Wu tang clan, Blondie

cptnpasty Posted - 07/05/2007 : 01:03:28
does anybody have previous experience with fabchannel, and know roughly how long it takes for a concert to find it's way into the archive?

naively, i was expecting it to be archived the minute it was over. i finally got over my IT issues last night and caught the last few songs. very frustrating to miss what i missed but what i saw was impressive to say the least.

i'm now doubly gutted that he isn't playing dublin.

Since this show isn't available in the archives yet, I looked at the list of which ones are in there. To be honest, I've heard of very few of those artists. Am I out of touch or is FB playing venues where mostly nobodies play?

Please pardon me, for these my wrongs.
frankoholic Posted - 07/04/2007 : 23:13:04
missed it too darnit
they probably still have to check for broadcast rights or so
performing without a guitar, the man keeps amazing me. does anybody remember the David Bowie birthday party? He seemed like a fish out of the water, so I never thought he would pull it off. But he seems to do it, although the Werchter show had some pretty bad reviews. I'm very curious to know how this evolves. I love the one guitar setup.

I missed it. It says 'waiting for clearance' now. What does that mean?

This was cool! I just missed the end though...something big happened at work while I was watching.

Anyway...THANKS, FRANK (and the band)! Killer show!
