Posted - 11/17/2006 : 12:53:09 Hello everyone,
My name is Brent Felix and I’m working on the DVD for the new Frank Black chRISTMASS CD/DVD. I also worked with Myles Mangino on The Pixies ‘On the Road’ documentary awhile back.
I met Myles while I was living in Connecticut about five years ago. My band at the time, The Altairas, recorded a few songs in his studio, Planet of Sound, in Hartford. Myles did a terrific job working on our demo and it was then that we started talking about The Pixies. He told me all these great stories about touring with The Pixies. Please keep in mind that The Pixies hadn’t reformed at this time and it still seemed like that day would never come, so I really enjoyed hearing these. I told Myles that I was a video editor at an ad agency so when he got the call from 4AD to put some home movies of the Pixies together for a forthcoming DVD, Myles gave me a call to see if I wanted to help. Of course I did! We only used a snippet of Myles’ footage and he still has tons more great vintage footage of the band that hopefully will see the light of day someday.
Okay so that’s a little background on me, hopefully I haven’t bored everyone. Today I own my own company, Imaginary Boy Studios, which is based in California. Myles called me a few months ago to see if I wanted to help tape and edit a show for this acoustic tour. Of course I did! I showed up in Sacramento and we did a 2 camera shoot. Anyways I just wanted to let everyone know that so far everything is going great. I think we’ve got a great show on DVD for your viewing pleasure. Myles has mastered the audio at the Planet of Sound Studio for this DVD and it’s sounding fantastic!
All in all there will be twelve tracks on the bonus DVD. I was thinking that in order to build a little suspense I would reveal a track a day for the next couple of weeks. But that seemed a little cruel. So instead I figured I’d post the first 6 songs today and then the final 6 next week. The first 6 songs are:
1.Brackish Boy 2.I Burn Today 3.Cactus 4.Nadine 5.Holiday 6.Sing for Joy
That’s all for now. If you have any questions I’ll be more than happy to answer any.

It's contributions from the likes of yourself, Myles, Jon Tiven and The Man himself that keep me coming back to the forum for news and updates. The Podcasts are pretty great as well - thanks Guys!

Very easy to do. They're two of the best songs on TOTY and of Frnck Blck's career. |

Posted - 11/17/2006 : 20:13:04 I get those two confused all the time, too. Two Reelers was so amazing at the show I saw (Omaha). This song was destined for video. Watching FB's hand slide up and down the neck of his guitar on Two Reelers just blew me away. It was the first time it ever occurred to me that he's not just a rock god, a great songwriter and a true entertainer, but he's an accomplished and skillful guitar player.
Does the smiley face mean it's gonna be on there, Brent?

Posted - 11/17/2006 : 13:14:57 No information yet on the sticker price. That's out of my hands. But I do know that there will some sort of packaging for the cd/dvd. That's all being put together right now.
