Thank you Daisygirl - had the audio version but love the video!!!! My Life Is In Storage is one of those that didn't catch my ear until I heard it live - and here it really shines

Black Rider is really great - where he's coaxing his host to sing along with him

All the videos on that link are worth watching. The camera guy does a great job -- especially for a radio station.

Yeah, I love the Black Rider singalong (sort of). :)

"Now you're officially my woman. Kudos. I can't say I don't envy you."

For you music wonks (or Replacement fans) ... the interviewer, Mary Lucia, is Paul Westerberg's sister.

That really is quite excellent.

Nice find, prozacrat. It sure beats Bear in the Big Blue House as morning t.v.

Very casual, isn't it? He gives great performances. I hope my group does an in-studio performance at the Current sometime. They've got a great setup.

Bartholomew!

It just feels to me like I've heard these chords and changes quite a few times already, a feeling more than fact, maybe. Constant Sorrow Man springs to mind straight away. The minor to major shift is all vintage fB like you say, but again, to me, it's just another one to add to the collection.

but what a collection.

(edit: i don't think i mean CSM. i have a hybrid in my head and the lyric i'm thinking of keeps rolling into "i'm a rambler...", can't for the life of me remember the other song)

Good interview.

fbc, it's interesting that 'the water' hasn't got you yet with a couple of listens, I would guess it sticks to your brain the first time you hear it, grabbing your attention with the weird chord changes and everything. It's probably my favourite of all the new songs Frank has been playing. Those chord changes are vintage Frank, to me they don't really sound "right" together, but somehow everything works, especially with the way Frank's vocals give the song an unsetling/malicious tone. Reminiscent of early Pixies, maybe? (it sounds like a slow version of Nimrod's son, actually: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AoTEjtKfUA&mode=related&search=)
Can't wait for the new album to come out.

Marvellous show! The Reid Plaey/Muses connection is interesting.
fbc Posted - 11/04/2006 : 03:07:34
Hey all, you do know that he bursts into a spontaneous Black Rider at the very end? of course you do. just checking.

It sounds great.

I really dug 'My Life Is..' too, Daisy, though all the songs sounded great. I've heard "The Water" song a few times now and it still hasn't got me yet, even though fB plays it great, but the other songs sounded so sweet to my ears.

you're welcome FBC, glad it made your day. :) I really thought my life is in storage was a great choice and worked well with the other ones.
fbc Posted - 11/03/2006 : 16:33:19
he sure can holler. thanks for this, daisy girl. it's a nice saturday morning surprise.

(the second track is the forum-proclaimed 'the water' ;)
Daisy Girl Posted - 11/03/2006 : 16:17:27
It was a nice set and interview. The higlight is that FB said again that he wants Tom Waits to produce a new Pixies album if there is one.

The songs that FB played are:

* My life is in storage
* The water
* That burnt out rock & roll

I know the Current is great at archiving these in studio appearances, so make sure you check this out. You won't want to miss it!
