I am sure this has already been mentioned. I agree that honeycomb was a tiny bit weak. he was feeling out some new territory. but fmrm is incredible. i can understand criticizing some songs but dogsleep? are you kidding me? that song is incredible. especially the weird end. at first i was thrown for a loop by the weird ending but now it seems like a very creative way to finish an epic. brilliant restraint.

I apologize for redundancy in topics but this man impresses me so much with his ability to change genres yet stilll write great songs that it really upsets me to see such poorly thught out reviews. of course pitchfork is pretty cool and i dont reallly hold it against them but they missed the mark here. i mean they raved about the fucking unicorns and they dissed this? they need to focus on what is goood and spend lesss time trying to be super hip.

pitchfork, you are alright but you blew it here.

I always liked In Utero way better than Nevermind. Nyah nyah!

Well, that's a matter of taste. Personally, Nevermind is superior to the GBV album. But your example is a good one. Nevermind has lost any cool factor it may have had (did it have any?), so it's no surprise that Bee Thousand is ranked higher.
I'm not saying that it's the only reason they ranked both albums the way they did, it's just that, when reading Pitchfork, it's hard not to notice the pattern of bad reviews given to albums that fall short of some cool indie circle they belong to.
But they introduced me to Deerhoof, so it's not all bad.

Any music review site that ranks Guided By Voices' Bee Thousand over Nirvana's Nevermind is "alright" in my book. Plus, they also indirectly introduced me to great artists, such as Slint and Brainiac.
