AWAY WITH THE PIXIES
There is no plans for a Pixies reunion album. But Frank Black's Fast Man Raider Man will satisfy fans.
"My dream is to go to Australia with the Pixies," Frank Black told MAG, "because we haven't been there. I really want to play on a stage with a roof over our heads where the people are going to sweat."
Although the Pixies managed reunion performances throughout much of the world last year, an album is no closer to reality.
"I've submitted a few demos. I'm not even saying they were good demos, but I have tried to get Kim (Deal) on board with making a record. She and I, we love each other; on another level we hate each other. It's a strange relationship. I end up pushing her buttons. If there is going to be a Pixies album I have to back off. It has to come from her. She's reticent. She's flat out said 'no', but in another conversation she'll consider it. She just doesn't want to make a bad reunion album.
In the meantime we can enjoy the solo albums Frank Black has recorded with legendary Nashville "cats" literally before re-entering the Pixies maelstrom (Honeycomb), and the 27-track follow-up (Fast Man Raider Man) recorded whenever the Pixies schedule allowed. He remains pumped up.
"Because a Pixies reunion record didn't happen, I'm extra fuelled up to do something brash or aggressive or pompous...I don't know quite what."

Posted - 09/14/2006 : 20:21:52 Thanks, Don. Frank better make the dream a reality.
I'd be interested to see what kind of crowd The Pixies draw here in Oz.
...as long as they don't play exclusively at those crappy summer music festivals. |

Posted - 08/25/2006 : 19:15:17 My brother worked there for a year, Dean. They wouldn't extend his (or his friends) work visas after the year was up, so he went over to New Zealand for six months, doing odd jobs add staying in hostels. I'd love to see Oz and NZ myself.

Posted - 08/25/2006 : 15:43:39 On the topic of false hope for Aussies, I got myself a work visa and may be there sometime next year for a year or so. Sure, it's not the Pixies or FB, but hey...
