Josh Frank, the man behind the Teenager of the Year musical recently wrote a book called Fool the World on the Pixies, released in Europe. In his continuing quest to, indeed, fool the world, the book is coming to the US on March 21.

While the book is not official, and there may even have been a little friction generated as the presses began to roll, the general consensus from our European contigent was quite comprehensively positive, so we felt it our duty to pass this along to you. Certainly we know that Josh is actually a fan of Frank's which is more than we can say for other recent books that cashed in on the Pixies reunion.

Fool the World is already available for pre-order on Amazon and of course is still available to Europeans as well. Or check out the website.

You expected a more witty reply? Come on, how can a journalist capitalize journalist?

Note that gankuverymuch has deleted what I was replying to. I was parroting their slam (perhaps in jest) of floop.

Oh and Re: "the Pixies" Vs. "Pixies", my thoughts on this…

Writers have to choose one or the other for consistency, in a situation like that. I myself am a Journalist and even though I have never written a book it seems like the same principles apply even more so.

gankuverymuch's poor capitalization and grammar is really starting to annoy and piss me off.

Since some people interviewed seemed to call em "Pixies" and others "The Pixies" they had to choose one or the other.

I would have gone with just “Pixies” most likely because that is what the band had intended from the start, and it is a literary choice giving different meaning to the sentences in the book.

To me, they'll never be Pixies In Panoply.

To me they'll always be "Them Pixies-Type Things".

I like to refer to them as Those Pixies.

thanks for the reminder COF!!! I will definately get it. Besides Amazon are there any "in person" bookstores that we know that will be carrying it??? I can't wait to check it out.

Somebody on the forum recently mentioned that it was 4AD who started the 'Pixies' thing, like just having them as 'Pixies' on the cover. I'm not sure either way!

Officially, they are called Pixies and not "the" Pixies.
But i agree with Thomas. It's a little bit stupid

This probably has already been discussed when it was released in Europe, but I find it funny how Josh and Caryn systematically refuse to add the word "the" before Pixies. Yes I know it was purposefully left out of all their albums and merchendise, but when you talk in a sentence it is proper to say, "I remember going to see the Pixies" than "I remember going to see Pixies". They could have just used the lower case "t" for "the" to make their point. It just sounds wrong.

[edit] In his review Mr. John Murphy says, "btw - we always called them, "the" Pixies"
I guess Josh and Caryn are just being pretentious.
